Does anyone have a working plPythonPack? After sending a PM to Chogon about this I tried compiling the one in the GoW fork but it doesn't read the files with UTF-8 encoding, can't import struct and crashes on mutex.py.

Thanks!

I've used that plPythonPack, so I know it works.

Make sure the python files in your 'system' directory match the python version you built plPythonPack against. So if you used python 2.3, you can use the vanilla scripts python. If you used 2.7 (the latest), you'll need updated scripts - the GoW repository has a python27 branch that contains fixes for that python version.

Judging by what files you said it broke on, this seems to be the most likely error.

A helpful note, if you compile the client in internal mode you can just put the scripts in the python folder. No need to pack them... Be sure you put SDL in the SDL folder as well. Happy exploring 8)

When I tried to use an Internal build with packed python, it exploded handily, so unpacked is definitely the way to go if you're a developer.

EDIT for clarity
