They want to be seen like Gods, but they are simply Dictators ;
they don't really love this game, they simply love themself and Power ;
they use their screen as mirror, and this game as a tool to show their Power.
It's the perfect reflect of this World ; the reflect of this rotten World.
And they do nothing to make this World better, because they are as this World is.
Some years ago, Uru was a safe place ... It's no longer a safe place ; now, it's the same place than this World: a rotten place.

Sounds like a computer programer I know, im glad their not all like that.

Yep, that attitude will happen when you focus exclusively on the 1/10 of 1% of maladjusted, mentally imbalanced, or sociopathic people on the planet.

However, URU (for all the sadness and secondary violence in its storyline) was nevertheless designed as a nonviolent game that focuses on archaeological information-gathering and puzzle-solving within an artistic environment depicting an enormous cultural history. As such, it has attracted some of the kindest, most intelligent - and nonviolent - gamers worldwide, in my opinion.

Sorry you're not seeing the forest for the one rotting tree.

Sure, you might stop the occasional griefer - but you'll also stop new blood. =/
You're right. There's a tricky balance between creating "safety" and keeping things easy enough for the new player that they're not put off straight away. It'd probably also irk the established player who needs to create a new account because they need a new avatar for some specific purpose. Given there are roughly 300 new accounts created each week, I'm betting that the majority of those are not new players.

Is it possible that the griefer problem is being exaggerated? Are there really that many "determined" griefers? Are we blowing this whole thing out of proportion, and merely making ourselves paranoid? Yes, griefers are a nuisance, but you don't blow up a city block just to kill one mosquito.
I don't know if it is being exaggerated - that it happens is beyond a doubt, but like you, I'd worry that a knee-jerk response of re-engineering the whole game to deal with what is ostensibly a very small minority of problem individuals will have more damaging consequences. That's why the Enhanced Ignore appeals: It has no "impact" on people playing the game normally.

Griefers exist in games with fees, too – and by paying they feel ‘justified’ in griefing.
Limiting access to Ages goes against freedom of exploration which, I think, is one of the premises of MOULa. More importantly, anyone with an internal client can zip to the relevant locations and ‘solve’ an Age in minutes.

Positive attitude at its finest.

rocket, annnabelle's post, while blunt and to the point like she usually is with heated topics, is not wrong.

Thank you Chloe :D

I just wanted to shake the coco tree a little...refreshing minds that we should listen to each others rather than camping our position and keep on with hostilities.

For what I read after (except Rocketdog's reply which I can conceive was going to be a little bit angry... and...

TCB's reply which has non-sense at all... My friend TCB: "trolling a topic" is to deter it & fly to greener pasture just for the fun of it... I only tried to re-centre the discussion to more positive vibe. I had to shake some egos to do it because some just got in a downward spiral...

The discussion seems rather positive from page 4 onward which I'm glad. I'll keep reading it and if I feel the need to nourish the discussion, I'll.

P.S.: Rocketdog...don't try to dictate to grown up adults aka Cyan Employees how to react to posts. If they had to censor it they would have had done it by now. I didn't give any unrespect, I just put a mirror in your face

Annabelle,

Case and point, you still don't get it and you never will. This will be the last thing I will say to you, you are not going to suck me in to your nonsense.

Actually - lots of things change - and have changed - and fancy that - people are and have been coming back - Jamey, Tweek, Whilyam, myself as just a few examples.

And that's a positive aspect!

All four of you guys have contributed to this community in an uprecendented way by adding a lot of wonderful fan ages.

I know Tweek & Whilyam are reworking some of their ages which is very interesting.

I just want to say that you need to be careful that you don't throw out the cow, just because the milk is sour.

OK so we keep the Cow and work on getting the sour out of its milk.
Hopefully before Mysterum, If people see the Many ways the caverns have
changed for the better we just might get more regulars, contributing their art
their presence, their knowledge their humor, and everything else that made
the cavers what it was.

The addition of any fan ages would be great but will only
hold peoples attention for a short time we need them to wanna come back and
enjoy that friendly atmosphere they remember. Adding fan ages is gonna take
a lot of work. If no one is their to enjoy them or if the trolls won't let you enjoy them
all that work is for nothing.

Considering all the unusual events that occurred that where outside of Cyan's control
between the announcement of open source and the actual releasing there of Id hate to be
around when these technical savvy fans find out they just wasted all their time, I would hate
even more to be the troll/troll's responsible

to be honest not much has changed but yet change is a part of life but all I say is the same arguments and same egos with nothing resolved in the end. I am always hoping things would change for the better for folks to put their egos aside for the greater good....I thought that was part of the message that Uru is. This is what drove me away in the first place.
