Any differences from the retail copy?

Hi,
I've been playing through the Myst series with my father and were just about to finish Myst IV and Uru is next. I was wondering whether its possible to use Uru Online as a way to just play the base Uru as a 2 player experience, or if we would just have to use the actual game.

If you're referring to Uru: Complete Chronicles, that's a single player game.

There are many differences between the offline game and Myst Online. First of all, you have to remember that Complete Chronicles came out in 2003! Since then, new Ages have been added (with the promise of more new content to come), parts of The Path of the Shell require a second player, there are Ages that require several people working together to solve, and, of course, there's the Myst Community.

Just to clarify, it's possible to play through the content lof Uru: The Complete Chronicals as a co op experience?

Yes, with some small changes. Some elements of The Path of the Shell were changed for the offline release to make it possible to complete by a single person. These changes were reversed when the ages were released online, so you'll need some help in some places. It's also not possible to open the door in the Watcher's Sanctuary; that area was simply never opened online. Other than that, everything that is in Complete Chronicles is also in MOUL, plus more.

Although most of the Complete Chronicles content is included in Myst Online, some of it is arranged differently. In Complete Chronicles there's more of a story connecting certain parts, and a few different or additional puzzles. I wouldn't recommend replacing it with Myst Online myself.

This question, or at least very similar ones, has been asked several times in recent months - I'm thinking that maybe we need a nicely formulated (and not too spoilerish) post on the differences stickied somewhere, as no doubt it'll come up more times.

You can actually finish Complete Chronicles. You can do all the puzzles in MOULa, but you never really 'finish' the game.
