I recently began a new explorer having done everything there was to do with the original one I used. The first thing I did was to acquire a KI and calibrate it completely. I have not yet done any of the ages. I decided to start all over again by going to the Cleft. I used Mir-o-bot to get there as I didn't know how else to gain access to the Cleft. I located all the journey cloths, listened to Yeesha, got into the tree, went to the pedestal, and there is no linking book to get back to Relto. In fact, in Relto there is no Cleft book in the bookcase?
What have I done wrong?

With a new explorer there should be
[Reveal] Spoiler:
a single pillar in the middle of your relto. Take a look.

Yes, by not using the "proper" means of getting to the cleft, you didn't acquire the book and didn't "initialise" the age fully. I'm not even sure if doing it properly now will get you that Relto page at the end :?

It’s normal, you cannot get back to the Cleft until the First Journey is over.

It will be a Yeesha gift.

A couple of follow up questions:
1) Can I undo everything I have done with my new explorer? and
2) If I delete the explorer altogether, can I create a new explorer with the same name?

You can undo some things by deleting books on your shelf and starting those ages again.

No, definitely not the exact same name, but you might be able to create one with a similar name.

When you say I can delete some things, does that mean I can go all the way back to the very beginning and start over?

This is the spoiler FREE thread.
You should ask that question on the spoiler thread.

My apologies. I did not think I was asking something incorrectly. I just want to keep the nickname I created and restart my explore since the first effort is now corrupted. If that is somehow a secret thing, then I am very sorry. I did not know that.

I don't believe there are any real spoilers here and the possible ones are hidden in tags.

I also don't believe that your exploration should be considered corrupted. Unless there's a real technical glitch that keeps you from moving forward, you can still do everything - just maybe not in the order you hoped or planned.

[Reveal] Spoiler: My advice is to
use the book in the pillar to go to the cleft just to "initialize the age" as Mac said. You may have to re-do the cleft.

Yes you can delete everything / including your avatar name and start over. I just made a test and use my name (within a few minutes) and found out it is possible.

My advice from my other post...

So far ===> only one bug ?
[Reveal] Spoiler:
I did get a link to the GZ "only" after finishing the green & red GZ markers. (no access to the one under the stairs at the GZ location)

You cannot delete the Cleft book.. in order to star over from step one, you will have to delete your avatar and start over. But I do believe you can delete your avatar and immediately create a new one with the same name.

I just tested this. I created and explorer named 'test subject abcde987', got a KI, created her own hood, then deleted her and used the exact same name again. It worked just fine. So you can use the exact same name as long as no one else has taken it in the mean time.
