Basically I think it's a report on whether or not the entire thing is going to collapse anytime soon. If it is, the age will probably get suspended, like Rolep.

Well, unless they're playing video games, in which case heros die a lot too.

I really hope we get Ahnonay... it's one of my all-time favorite ages.

What exactly is a 'stability report'?

Well, it's a report that will confirm whether or not Ahnonay is... stable...

Amateria, far and away, is the best Age ever, ever, ever! :D

Or was it just me?

Totally agree with you, Heaven. Amateria ROCKS!
Followed closely by Riven.

Amateria was beautiful and incredibly detailed... and prerendered.

Could Cyan successfully recreate that age in realtime 3D for Uru so it could be experienced on our computers and even compare to the prerendered images from Exile?

I mean, that would be very cool to revisit a place like Amateria in Uru. But tough for Cyan at the very least... Maybe not impossible.

Problem: Amateria is Ubisoft's IP. So it won't be back anytime soon.

Nope, not just you - my favorite also. Well, one of my favorites. I don't expect we'll see it anytime soon, if ever, but I'm sure new and wondrous ages are just around the corner *Cassie keeps her fingers crossed*.

it is possible for cyan to recreate amateria, though i doubt it'll be the same as in exile. the part we saw could just be a tiny drop in the bucket to the actual age.

oh well, a guy can dream can't he?..

Seeing old Ages again can get old really quickly. I imagine that if we got Riven in MOUL, we'd run around, think "cool!" then be bored since we've seen it before.

Showing areas we've seen before can be very effective when used precisely and for the right reasons...
in PotS
seeing Myst Library and K'veer gave the kind of emotion needed at the end of that expansion pack, the feeling that the circle is complete.
And in Myst V
K'veer and the ruined Myst also gave the powerful emotions. From the very beginning, K'veer, with its earthquakes and mournful music, and the ruined Myst island, felt like everything has gone wrong -- an emotion vital to that point in the game
But if we end up seeing a bunch of old Ages without a specific reason and without the emotional force it deserves, it feels less like a meaningful return and more like recycled content.

1. It got transfered to Ubi when Presto collapsed.
2. Cyan retains rights to Myst IP in general, but not to IP for specific content in Myst 3 and Myst 4.

You're all forgetting, there's no way for any of us to get to Amateria.

The only link to Amateria was on J'nanin, and the link to J'nanin was destroyed when Saavedro set Atrus's office on fire.
