I didn't know whether this should be in general or spoiler, but I put it in spoilers just in case.

Has anyone come up with some nice (multiplayer) games in Jalak yet? Excluding all the building with the blocks (I've seen some amazing pics of that), I haven't heard of any fan-made game yet.

I am trying to think some up myself, but the idea machine isn't working properly I think. :?

If you know any nice games: please post the rules here and I can try them out!

Thanks in advance!

Combine marker hunts with Jalak. Such as the first to capture all markers in a competition where it's a free-for-all on clicking the pillars. Some might be in mid-air. Some might be embedded somewhere in the structure to be revealed. Start with any configuration - all up, all down, or randomized. May the best hunter-clicker win.

I'm working on a few somethings... I am a big fan of abstract strategy games, and I'm planning on launching a website to collect rules for Jalak games...

I think it's too soon for anyone to post rules for a bunch of new games, as games of this type take some doing to devise.

I think the only solvent idea so far is JW's marker race, which is of course, brilliant.

I hope we come up with a lot of them, as I'm really looking for something to get me into the Cavern more often.

Stay tuned.

Such a website would indeed be a great idea! Be sure to notify me when it comes! Abstract strategy is my favorite type of game as well :)

And the Marker idea should keep me occupied for a while...

While playing around last night I came up with a random game. Haven't been able to play it with someone yet, but it looks like it'll work.

Players: 2 competitors and 1 referee.
Force Field: On
First you need to set up the stage. Make all the pillars uniform at the mid-height level. Raise the centre pillar up 3 times. Raise the edge pillars between the red and blue, and yellow and green corners 3 times as well. E.g.

Code:
---------------------
| r |   | x |   | b |
---------------------
|   |   |   |   |   |
---------------------
|   |   | x |   |   |
---------------------
|   |   |   |   |   |
---------------------
| g |   | x |   | y |
---------------------

(note: you can also build a 'staircase' by the edge pillars so you can get back up on them)

Then you drop the long rectangle object, it should land such that the ends point towards the raised pillars. Each player jumps onto one end of the object and face outwards. The referee (or if there's no third player, both competitors) keep launching objects from the sky, causing the rectangle to wobble. The point is to stay longest on the rectangle without falling. If you think the rectangle is going to topple over, you need to jump off onto the raised pillar. If you jump off without the rectangle toppling over, or if you fall down with the rectangle, you lose and the other person gains the point (or if both fall/jump too early, it's a tie). I originally planned this out in 3rd person mode, but I guess with 1st person it'd be even trickier. Hope that made sense and that someone finds some joy out of it!

Here's a grid to get everyone started:

EDIT: I updated the graphic to include icons for players.

What would be great (fantastic actually!) if you had 20 players, but otherwise, you'd have a tough time playing a game like that with the blocks.

I made a pretty simple game, havent played it with anyone but tested it by myself.

basically you set it up like my diagram below shows, it can be set up at ANY preset height, (if its at ground level, raise every panel up 1 height except for the -1 panels, then follow the rest of the diagram) (sorry if that makes no sense). Continuing on... Each player starts at the bottom of their stairway, they will then jump up the stairs, jump the gap, then jump to the middle and knock the object towards their opponent's side and fight to get it into their opponent's basket/goal (the -1 hole). Continue till you get to 3 wins and then switch players (or not, its up to the host).

Forcefield: on.

(once again, sorry if this makes no sense, i'd be happy to show anyone ingame who doesnt understand or wants to play)

the image below shows how to set up the grid.

the image below gives a visual on how to play the game (hopefully better than my explanation above  )
(the + and - numbers represent the panel heights)

Thanks for the grid The Noble Robot, it looks great.
