I have two questions.

1) It is the name of the streetlamp in Hood (or Bevin).
One which there are two kinds is a "Papillon". What is another one’s name?

2) Do you know the site that can teach it when Portal of Pod age appears?
I cannot check it now because GoG downs.

I apologize if a place asking you a question is not appropriate.

#2 question You try this link for DMoA pod portal calcuator..Okay?

http://www.kater.sadji.de/portal/

It is currently UTC +1 time so you need to convert to your time locally

#1 question I'm not sure.. but in French, Papillon means 'butterfly' (I think) so maybe it is referring to the fireflies around the lamp?

"Papillons" are butterflies in French but are also the generic word for moths. Some French will use "mites" but for the most of us, we will resort on "papillons de nuit" to make the difference between the night dumb ones and the colourful day ones.

So yes toki, there's a moth lamp and the other is the hand lamp.

In fact the "moth" on the moth lamp is a bee. In the code, the beeLampXX objects refer to what we usually call the moth lamps, & the BlueLampXX objects refer to the hand lamps. There's no blue colour evidence on the hand lamp though...

Here's a picture showing them:

One lamp was originally found inside the Bevin Neighbourhood built by the D'ni and the other kind was found inside the Seret Neighbourhood.

This is why our hoods can be either Seret-like or Bevin-like neighbourhoods depending of which lamps they have :D

That was this one, but it’s currently giving “NaN” dates, to me :?:
There’s also an offline one by CWalther.

And regarding the lamp:

Though it should be Seret :)

Thanks you korovev for the lamp info!

And also for giving the source which is a comprehensive glossary made by Norfren, very instructive :)

Now I'll remember, the bee is in Seret, the hand is in Bevin. :)

In addition, I thought that the design of the lamp to see in Kirel was a butterfly.
That was a bee not a butterfly!
I have been misunderstanding it all the time for a long time.

Thank you very much!!

To be fair, that doesn’t look like a bee at all... Perhaps the D’ni made a very common mistake?

Edit: actually, I think those lamps really depict a moth: bees, wasps and hoverflies like warm and sunny environments. Not exactly what we have in the Cavern :)

I'll vote for it being a firefly... which makes some tiny bit of sense for a light.

Could be, though there are no elytra... But then, a D’ni firefly could be completely different.

Maybe it's a "cave fly"?

check out the pic on this page, of the heliomyzid cave fly:
http://www.nps.gov/maca/naturescience/insects.htm

...his striped abdomen seems to look somewhat similar to the lantern image. It's possible that these kind of flies were native to the cavern, and they became attracted to the lanterns, so the D'ni people incorporated the fly's image into the object that was attracting them.

No need to suggest they are supposed to be fireflies on the lanterns... In US rural culture, weathervanes often have chickens on them. They indicate the compass-direction of the wind. The crow of a rooster is associated with the sunrise, which happens in the east... and that is a really obscure reason to suggest that chickens belong on a weathervane--- because the wind might make it point east, where the sun comes up, which is when roosters tend to crow.

Yeah, that too, though it’s a bit skinny :D
The lamp is very stylized, so the possible candidates are quite a few.

I'm sure it's not the Beetle from Riven?

I don't look at their faces either - I count how many wings they have: 4 mean, it's a wasp, 2 mean, it's a fly
