No, I've seen it a few times. What about it?

You've been asking for or hinting to Yeesha's Myst V journals in your post here, Vector ... :P

Ainia just kindly pointed you to them ... I myself have spotted 12 of the journals in her astounding 'Relto library' resp. treasure chest, which you've been hinting to in your post, though in a different context as for making them available in MOULa I suppose, which would be a completely different story, of course ... 8)

I was just stating that something similar to Yeesha's Myst V journals (which are also on MYSTAges) would be nice to have in Uru for new players to get a vague understanding of the back story.

Shorah Vector Cramp,

Ah, thanks for the clarification!

Yes, in the past there was a bit of discussion about trying to get The Heritage Documents into MOULa somewhere to address that need, however it's doubtful it will ever happen. I guess the best we can do for now is point newbies to the offline version. In fact, the need for a good reference library for explorers was why I created the library in the first place. (That, and I wanted a place to keep all my research journals.)

Wow, I hadn't seen the heritage documents before. They're exactly the kind of thing I was talking about. Were they apart of Uru previously or is it a fan-made thing?

Shorah Vector Cramp,

There is a stickied thread here in the Spoilers section about the Heritage Documents effort. DimensionTravelerCalum/Calumon has been hosting an annual event known as Heritage Night, where he talked about all the information in the Heritage Documents. This event was especially geared toward newcomers or folks who were interested in knowing more details about historic Cavern events. Cal recently stepped down from his years of providing this service but nobody has taken up the reigns, so it looks like we have seen the last of this event. :(

Back in 2012, I volunteered to compile everything from the stickied thread into a formal document, which is how the book came to sit on the shelf in my Relto library. At the time, everyone involved was in agreement that the very best place for such information was somewhere in the cavern; however, both then and now there is no means for getting fan-created content added, so we have had to settle for a stickied thread and a web-based fan library.

Of course, should the day arrive when adding such content to MOUL is possible, I will be happy to port the content into the appropriate format... :)

In addition, Mac_Fife wrote up a sister book documenting events from the 2010 cavern reopening.

What counts as the URU storyline?

What counts as the URU storyline?

In the context of the citation you quoted and the Heritage Documents...

I think the citation is referring to the things all explorers can discover on their own by visiting the MOULa Ages and solving their puzzles (and so is warning them that they could lose out on their opportunity to experience those things as "brand new").

The historical events from the Heritage Documents and Mac's sister document are things that explorers are unable to discover on their own at all. The documents are a fan effort to provide a deeper understanding of cavern history and events for folks (such as myself) who missed the historical events themselves.

These historical events form an important part of the larger storyline but are not referenced within the MOULa Ages at all. At one time, Cyan/DRC/Yeesha were telling us a much larger story in the form of monthly live "events" or installments. We are now in a hiatus of sorts; the DRC are defunct, Yeesha is off dealing with the Bahro/Bahronoir and their civil war, Cyan has moved on to other projects. But as fans and explorers we have been left with the option of "finding our way and making our home", which in my mind also encompasses the notion of developing the explorers' part in this bigger story of the D'ni.

This is where the open source effort and the possibility of fan Ages comes in. Besides simply adding more interest and newness to cavern life, we also have the opportunity to develop a fan-based branch of the D'ni story that was being told in installments several years ago. Cyan has made it clear that we mustn't meddle with canon or their NPC characters; however, there is a great deal left for us to work with. There are many unexplored areas of the cavern, many undiscovered Ages, many interesting questions about the D'ni, the Ronay, the Bahro...

There are a number of explorer groups who had been developing such alternate branches. Two that come to mind are The Third Path (spearheaded by Tweek) and the Devokan Trust (with Dot, Nalates and AndyLegate being some of the most active members). Another interesting group is the D'ni Research Association (DRA) and their restoration work on Adrael. It would be great fun to get these stories and explorations back into the cavern at some point, though quite honestly I don't know how likely that might be...

Whew! A long-winded answer to your simple question! :)
