Another idea... are you by any chance using a proxy?

I tried several times trying to download the update for my son's computer using two different sub-accounts. All attempts failed. Then I logged on using the main account and the update took right off... all on the same computer. I have no idea whether I just got lucky or it really mattered what account I was using.

Not unless my ISP is using one.

I remember having this once. I found out that there was already another URU program running in the background when I was starting URU Live. I went into task manager and found URULauncher.exe running in my processes. I ended that program and made sure there were no more running before trying again, and the patcher then worked fine. (By the way, it never told me that "URU is already running").

The folks that had success with a reboot may have fixed their's this way, but it doesn't sound like it is what Lyssa is seeing. Still, worth a look.

Cheers,

Dadguy

YES! Problem solved:

(failed to delete old patcher executable, access denied.)

For me it seems it may have been a Vista problem.

Even though I am running as an administrator, I still had to right-click the launcher and select run as administrator and re-allow the program.

But it's All Better Now! :D

Well done, Talon. I think that's Lyssa's problem too. Calumon was on the right lines.

This problem has two fixes, one for Vista and one not.

Ah Vista, the big M$ screw up. That could be it. We never did hear from Lyssa which OS she runs.

When did you last do LiveUpdate for your Norton, Lyssa? We're back to looking at your security settings.

That was exactly the same message that I was getting on my Vista machine,
the reply from game tap was

To resolve this issue, it is recommended to delete and redownload the game on this machine, your URU player information is stored on the server and will not be lost. We apologize for the inconvenience as we know this game can take a while to update.

I just went for the remove it and then downloaded the stand alone installer without gametap, and it works for now whoopee !!!!

*Heevan bursts into tears*
My...Uru...doesn't...work! *Sob*

Thankfully, I will be moving house, swapping internet provider, and be leaving this network behind. Hopefully that should fix it, right...?
