Looking for threads or posts and links to videos about Myst etc.

Originally I was looking for those game CD vids. I was hoping someone had posted them to youtube or converted them to a format we can view. I mean without jumping thru the hoops of the different quicktime versions ... what a pain.

If you can convert to WinMedia or know of any videos regarding Myst,Cyan,MOUL,MORE etc, in anyway please use this thread for now okay!

This is all for the Artic_Wagon thread:
Ideas For Threads of special Interest.
http://www.mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16132
His idea is just awesome and a big help to this community. Take a look at how much it is growing and lets all lend him a hand where we can.

While we are in this time of LESS, this is a great way we can all become involved in preparing for MORE.

Thanks All
Until LESS is MORE
Fezz

We might be running into troubles  .

1- re this Tech/list thread http://www.mystonline.com/forums/viewto ... 634#270634
Ian Atrus wrote:
My two cents... a Threads of interest topic should be about the main focus of these boards, aka MOUL/MORE and not the several versions of offline Uru and other Myst games. Though we let most of those threads stay here, this is NOT a tech support forum for the Myst saga.

2- Fezz, where did you hide your overall list ?

3- I have pmed moderator Ian Atrus for extra guidelines re: his above comment
and suggest that you should wait for some feedback before you create such an overall list.

I have not published a list yet.
Selfish me, I have been enjoying watching them all first.

Not really sure what is welcome in these threads anymore.
I offered free flowers application that makes nice flowers.
I offer links to free Python Books.
Not one thank you or get lost ... nothing.

I came to the forums to post a seamless texture application next.
A cloud/star maker tool, an audio maker, but I dont think they are wanted.
I have loads of app tools I think are needed.
But what do I know.

I thought your thread was also a good idea.
I thought a video list would be nice.
Oh well, no news on MORE so I guess I will just exit for awhile.

I will just do my Age creation waiting for MORE.
I had better get what I need from GoW while the gettin is good.
I wont be offering any new items.

Your idea is a very good one but it needs attention from Archivists for sure.
Its way too much work for anyone person.

I have found you to be a wonderful individual and thanks for the help you offer.

Now just until MORE
Fezz

Shorah Fezz;

Hey, I know that things get tough in these threads sometimes, but don't lose hope.
They are turning around, slowly yet surely - it's just that they nay-sayers tend to have louder voices than everyone else.
I for one think that a nice collections of Myst/Uru vids would be a good idea, and I hope to see something come out of it.
As for me, I don't like sitting around waiting - We're gonna push to see a change and if t doesn't happen then at least we got something out of it. If you are interested in helping in anyway I would sure appreciate the advice or comments.
MORE is coming - lets be ready.

Shevek

Hi Fezz.

I do understand your feelings very easily. I have been posting a lot on many sites
but it have to admit that I have often felt lonely.

I beleive that yours and Shevek's goals are not the same as of the majority.

Me beleive that you two are too good team persons while many just like/expect
to be entertained.

We would need a good psy to try to make sense of it all.

One other observation: you guys are all about technical stuff which is far
too advanced for people like me.

Hi Shevek and Artic,

I appreciate the words of support guys. I know its just a few that throw a wrench into things.

Hey I have a bad habit of not returning to view my posts/replies. I think I have done that many times so ... sorry.

Silly me I thought this community would want this or that. I just want to help in our time of LESS as much as I can. For some weird reason, I am of the opinion we should all help each other out. There are some super folks in this community, yourselves amongst them.

You guys check this out:
Surprise in Minkata
http://www.mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13155
As the thread goes on it turns into discovery of a new Age. A whole bunch of talent went into making this rather large thread.

I also found this site from Artic:
http://marten.treeweasel.com/GT/
A series of vids that tell a continuing story of explorers and the DRC and Phil Henderson, Douglas Sharper etc. A wonderful entertaining bunch of vids I thought.

All these vids should be in one place. I mean MystOnline has three on its splash page made by explorers we need a list of them all. They are spread all over cyberspace.

Now I am sure we all have our favorites but one of mine is:
Happy Feet (Dancing in D'ni)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSOnnMJW1wE

But now I think the top of all of them is:
Dont Give Up
http://marten.treeweasel.com/Uru/dgu.html
Just the use of that song did it for me, I love it.

I think these videos (like all of them) capture the heart and soul of the Explorers and should not be ignored but collected and shared in one spot, for all to enjoy as I do.

Artic you say, "We would need a good psy ...". I know the feeling so put me on that list for sure.

Now Artic or anyone, if you are not enjoying the Ages written by explorers contact me in PM and I will help each of you with what ever you need to get you started. You will need to have PotS installed on your computer and the rest is free. Its so easy to do really.

I know the feeling of needing help reading text on the computer. It is always so small. Or the kicker are those white backgrounds that just kill the eyes. Those folks never do get the concept of a background of some type to soften their web site.

You guys use these forums much better than I do. Silly me I thought I could just upload a photo. I guess I need a URL link to that photo like from PhotoBucket or such. I dont have or need to start a photobucket account I guess.

Thanks for the encouragement you guys.Back to LESS I guess.

Until LESS is MORE
Fezz

I agree with you Fezz.

This Marten's video should be at the top of any favorite's list.
(Music, story and graphics wise)
(Music by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush)

Heheh. I'm liking the videos, and the threads. It's good to know that there is stuff out there, other than just pizza parties.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoy pizza parties as much as the next guy...but I've been to "pizza parties" in Anarchy Online, in WoW, in SL, fiery abyss even in CounterStrike. I like to think that people who appreciate Uru appreciate it because of what it can provide that other games don't - beauty, and a great atmosphere.

Agreed. Marten doesn't just make great-looking videos; he makes the most of them as tools of communication (he made Talk [talk to me] when there were a lot of complaints about Cyan's lack of communication with the community) and I believe they have made a difference. While other fan-created videos come and go, Marten’s are historical markers for our community.
