Been working on a level in Unreal 4 after blender and plasma started driving me crazy. Its just a room right now but I hope to expand the area once i've completed all gameplay in the room.

Right now I'm trying to get a camera to work when a player clicks on a note on the desk. I've got that down but what remains is the ability to exit the camera by right clicking like in Myst IV and V.

I've added in some story hints through the environment, mostly tied to some of my DA stuff at http://www.rivendude.deviantart.com

-----------------------

Current version is Version 1.6:
DOWNLOAD :D

Changes in this version:

    V.1.6
  • Improved lighting
  • Split Marius' note
  • Developed new area
  • Added in new clickables
  • Hidden music box button added. See if you can find it! :D

    V.1.5
  • Added cameras and clickables.
  • Removed the splotch under Veovis' nose.
  • Added transitions.
  • Added in puzzle basics.
  • Moved some objects around for better views.
  • Proper lore implementation begun.

For those that are going to download the file: it's half a gigabyte in size (the download compressed file).

It's very d'nish  :o

I like it. The textures, the painting, the "luminosity", the objects. & the musical score. The details are very well rendered. Great work you did there Yali !

I got stuck though going toward the Persian Princess over the map of the City of Maffaton. I cannot go backward or forward.

And for the sensitive ones (like me)...
[Reveal] Spoiler:
Do not raise the sound up & press the left button of your mouse if you are prone to jump off your seat, you'll !
What does this hellish yellow ball does there anyway?!?

Thanks for letting me know about the collision issue. I'll be sure to fix that next update.

Edit: Yes, I still had the projectile in version 1.2. Version 1.3 has the grabby hand and no shooting mechanic. I might just upload it tonight.

Thanks for giving some great feedback! I hope I can reduce the file size. Right now I'm trying to get a camera working to zoom in to a note by Dr. Watson.

I posted this on the GoW forum and there's already talk of an unreal shard. I've already got another fan ready to do some asset construction for the expanded area and I'm fleshing out ideas for a story to make this into a potential fan game.

Unreal is exremely easy to use, much easier than blender and plasma. This whole area took me about a day to do with tweaking and such. I think it would be great if some Myst fans and Uruites tried it out. Its free and many pre-made assets can be downloaded from the market place. There are some fantastic chest assets I'm thinking of purchasing to add to my level.

I'd really like to see K'veer in Unreal along with other city locations since Unreal really gives that Riven feeling graphically and aesthetically.

Gonna try to get version 1.3 up soon enough. 8)

Not sure about the sound issue and yellow ball. What exactly happened?

I don't know either. I don't understand why there's a yellow ball popping from my screen as if I was throwing it into the screen (1st person view). Each and every time, it emits a popping sound so it's quite annoying and misplace in that environment. I don't think it's part of your game but more something related to the game engine itself. Maybe someone could help you solve that issue.

Hi, Yali and all, as I've just said on the GoW forums, and as one can also already tell by your picture posted above, this room is absolutely gorgeous, very impressive and just awesome in every respect and, yeah, very D'ni ... :P

I've had problems with that big download yesterday and today in the afternoon, but then, a couple hours ago, it went very fast again, I'm glad ... Thanks again, Yali, for this wonderful presentation and the sharing of your passion ... :D

YW, Yali ... This now is less than half the size, awesome ... I suppose it has to do with considerably decreasing the luminosity, because other than that you have rearranged some things, there's new stuff to admire and a message from a very familiar and well-known personality ... :P

It is much darker, but not too dark, except from a few perspectives and in a few places, like the area around the door, which you almost cannot see anymore, only when you find special angles etc. ... When reading the message I couldn't get back anymore, I've clicked everywhere, tried everything like right mouse, jumping, Esc. and almost all keys on my keybord lol, so I had to force quit with Alt+F4 and then go back in for a further exploration ... However, great job again, thanks Yali ... :D

Yeah, I should have warned you about that. I'm trying to figure out how to exit the camera using right click. I'm working on it.

This looks neat but I get an insanely low framerate, is there a way to turn down the graphic details? Running at something at or under 720P would be really useful.
