Exactly who is behind this avatar?
Looks like a bot, it pops in, drops a message naming some explorers that have something to tell us if we pm advert to it, then immediately disappears.

But there is no KI# of that name or anyone whatsoever in my recents list, so I couldn't contact that avatar if I wanted to and I can't put it in my ignore list like all the other bots either.

Forgive my ignorance please, I'm out of the loop, keeping away from public places/discussions most of the time.
Any information is much appreciated. Thanks :)

I think this might get a quicker response if it was in the Technical section.

As long as we get one, whenever :)

I wasn't sure it fits the technical discussion section, it's not related to original gameplay or bugs etc..

Hmm, if this is happening in the public city, it sounds like unauthorised hacking. Remember OHBot needed special permission to run in the cavern.(this was before the authorised hacking areas).

True that "sounds like" but be careful to jump to conclusions. All we know from this post is...
"""it pops in, drops a message naming some explorers that have something to tell us if we pm advert"""
We don't know if he is a bot or advertising a bot or plans on typing any reply by hand.
The only part that bothers me (so far), is that "it sounds like" he may be trying to obscure his identity. But that could just be the blind bug. So I wouldn't read to much into that yet either. There are ways to tell if the name was obscured and to see the original name. (I don't want to say it wrong. try to post back after I verify.)
@Adi
I never send out any advertisements with my bots. I don't believe that any other common/well known bot will either unless you initiate the interaction with them first. So just out of curiosity, I'm wondering why you feel the need to block bots?

No I was in one of my private Ages.
Here's the exact messages received (copypasted from the chat log) (before anyone asks yes I always have one running, for various reasons):

Quote:
(05/11 19:34:02) From Leefo: Hi buds. I hope you are fine spring days with me!
(05/11 19:34:08) From Leefo: These players have asked me to tell you that they have infos to share: karel, susa'n, stylus, fil, jayrho. If you want to know these ads, PM: ADVERT

After I checked my recents folder and didn't find the name Leefo or any name that could relate to it, I logged my avatar out and then back in to see if there was any change. There weren't.
I think it's the second or third time I've gotten a message from that avatar, the other time I immediately asked in buddychat if anyone knew who that was, the only reply I got was from someone that didn't know either.

I keep the bots on ignore because they talk a lot, they let you know when they move through the Ages and they have a lot of announcements that most of the time don't concern me at all. When I need to use them, I remove them from the list, then I put them back. I know I'm not the only one doing that. :)

Hmm Stone is correct, we should not jump to conclusions.

Do those names mean anything to anyone? Some of them seem familiar to me.

The names Karel, Susa'n, Stylus, Fil, Jayrho, are names of fellow explorers, well known members of this community. You should have seen them in game or in the events topic of this board, they often host music shows or Age explorations.

Not sure why you keep repeating not to jump into conclusions when I'm only asking a question.

I have been told that Leefo is a test Bot that Mr Magic uses from time to time for testing scripts etc. but is invisible to the KI system. I have only ever seen messages from Leefo once before. :)

The message you received was a standard one normally sent by Magic Bot. It's a function for advertising in-cavern events, and any explorer can send their event information to the bot.

Normally, you have to buddy a bot to get a message from it. The only thing I can think of is that Mr. Magic must have duplicated Magic Bot to create Leefo including Magic Bot's buddy list, and since you can't see Leefo in your buddies and ignore him, you got the mass PM.

It looks like Mr. Magic could improve not only the delivery to appear less suspicious with more introductory or explanatory text, but also improve its grammar so it doesn't look like a third-world hacker.

I don't think Mr.Magic is a native English speaker. Speaking of him, has anyone sent him a PM about this?
