In a perfect world (where we had enough manpower, time, resources, and cookies - and Cyan's help), what groups would fall under the umbrella of Guild of Messengers?

I have never seen a comprehensive list of all the news/messenger organizations currently operating, and I was interested to know what all is out there. This is not an official list - though it would be nice to make it available in some way to the Uru community. I don't think everybody knows what is available.

EDIT: Several of these groups are not primarily news organizations, and there has been much discussion about who would/would not be appointed membership in a GoM. That is not the purpose of this particular list. This unofficial list is meant to bring all parties to the table who might have insight or experience that could help contribute to a discussion about a Guild of Messengers.

Cavern Communications Network (CCN)
- CavernCast vodcast
- Archives of Episodes: chatlogs, audio, video, reports
- The Water Cooler Show
- The D'Ni History Project
The Cavern Today
- TCT Podcast
- TCT Extra - RSS feed of brief news updates during episodes
- Archiver - Magazine
CavernCam Community
- Camera in the cavern, recording at all times
D'net (not active)
- Advice on organizational management and structure
KiToons
- Uru comic strip
Myst Embassy
- Collects news headlines from Myst/Uru/D'ni sites (among other non-GoM related things)
Myst Obsession
- Primarily forum site; also features Myst headlines
The Newsletter Company (TNC) (not active?)
- Newsletters/newspapers
RelayerCorps
- Live relaying of important events to in-cavern locations
Rooftop Volunteer Group
- Town Criers
- KImail Advertising Service
Uru Action News
- Humorous IC newsletter
Uru Blogs
- Blogs of cavern explorers
Uru Obsession
- Forum site; also features Myst headlines
Uru Radio
- Radio station with various shows, interviews, etc.

Please post below and I will add them to the list! Thanks!

Well TCT does Podcasts and a Newsletter. ;) Also shouldn't Caverncast be listed as CCN as thats the org that does it or do you have a reason for it being that.

Anthony, thanks. I've updated the list with your changes.

Since CCN wasn't "clickable" on the Caverncast site, I wasn't sure what the names officially were ... :P

The Cavern Today also periodically puts out the TCT Extra, a brief report availabe via Internet feed. These usually come out once a day during episode week, hwever there were a rash of them during the "vid thing," too.

The Great Tree isn't a news or messenger organization. It's more...ideological.

Also, if you are looking at OOC concerns, there is the Myst Embassy, which runs contests to try to draw players into Myst, run websites like Myst Headlines and the Nexus, as well as other things as it occurs to us. ;)

I doubt we'd give up our autonomy or anything, but we do somethings that might fall under the umbrella of activities of a Guild of Messengers.

And then there are forum sites like Uru Obsession, which occupy a central place in terms of player communication....

I would classify The Archiver more as a magazine than a newletter (its getting pretty big these days) but that's just me ;)

url is http://www.thecaverntoday.com/Archiver

You could include the Rooftop Volunteer Group, which has run an effective Town Crier and KI-mail advertising service. These were primarily in support of the RVG's own activities, but as long as we were doing it anyway we supported others such as Spoken Word Night, the D'ni expletive Party and whatever else we knew about.

Don't know if this maverick outfit would fit within the GoM, however. :)

Lord Chaos, I will go ahead and add the RVG since this is not an official list of who is participating for sure - just who is currently doing things that would fall under the GoM umbrella.

Just to be clear, are the Town Crier and KImail still active, or things RVG has done in the past?

Shimmer, they were active until the time that technical problems terminated the Roof! parties. Now that we're resuming (August 24) we have started reactivating, starting with the Town Crier. When the GoM gets going we will gladly turn this over to them, unless someone volunteers to join the RVG as pubicist.

The KI mail included all events we knew of for about a week ahead. People passed it on and added events as necessary.

I'm sure there were more news organisations...

Oh, and LC, did you send me that ad? If so, I haven't got it. Maybe try sending it via pm or something. Though i'm sure I gave you the right e-mail url

The main TCT podcast can have a hyper link to its RSS feed: http://www.thecaverntoday.com/rss.xml

Samsbase does his Uru Radio its not a part of TCT although we are looking to have a slot on it, the address for uru radio is: http://radio.kahstudios.com/

Robert the Rebuilder has created the "CavernCam Community" its small so far but the idea is to have a camera in the cavern, the link for the list is: http://www.bergen-hill.com/rtr/CavernCam/ccc.html while Roberts camera with instructions on how to do it are: http://www.bergen-hill.com/rtr/CavernCam/

I can't believe you forgot Myst Obsession ( http://www.mystobsession.com ) probably the biggest forum in the myst community and I'm including this one in that ranking. They have several in game staff who run the "Cavern Today" forum at : http://www.uruobsession.com/forum/index ... ct=SF&f=56 you don't need to be a member to view the threads.

Thend produces a episodic comic strip at KiToons located at http://www.kitoons.com/uber/ I'd argue that that could fall under a messenger thing. Their quite funny so even if you disagree check them out.

D'ni Jazz Club might fall under the Guild of Messengers you can normally find alot of news about gametap and Myst on this site http://www.dnijazzclub.com/ it has a RSS subscription at : http://feeds.feedburner.com/tweek/dnijazzclub

Myst Embassey is a "Myst Portal" is does fall under a GoM interested party the site is at: http://www.mystembassy.net/ it keeps a collection of all the active myst websites as well as running other projects

You also have UruBlogs: http://urublogs.com/ a place where fans can blog ICly about their adventures in the cavern

In the interest of fairness there is TNC which has been inactive for some time http://www.webklik.nl/TNC/tnc-home

I've now offically run out of groups I know off which would fall under the Guild of Messengers
