Ya know what really gets me is all of these MMO's with violence and or pornography do just fine for some reason, but this one Uru Live a friendly peaceful MMO with no pornography or violence no blood shed no monsters to kill it seems to be doomed to repeated failure. No one seems willing to give it a chance,

Back in the sixties they said "give peace a chance" and no one really listed back then either perhaps this is a forerunner of thing to come.

"They" was "he." He was John Lennon. Nearly everyone listened. Few learned. Many are not still living. Those who learned and are alive are not elected.

Frisky Badger,

1. I have personally worked through breaks and lunch unintentionally. Don't you think it's possible that Cyan is working so hard that by the time they are done with work and have spent some time with their own personal lives they might accidently forget to post a small "nothing new to report" post?

No, because they posted quite a few times to other threads on this board. Also, I work in software and have had two large teams of people reporting to me, I know how long it takes to post a message, we schedule that sort of activity, and did I mention they found the time to make numerous posts on other sections of the board?

2. The last update we got, Chogon said that they were waiting for a piece of vital coding that only one person could provide; what would happen if all we got for several weeks in a row was:

Never happen.

No doubt, Chogon and company have considered what they will have to do if the person holding up the works doesn't come through. We need to know. No one can say we haven't been patient. What active steps are they taking to resolve the issue? The statement that only this one person can perform the coding change is not credible, in my experience. Finally, a couple weeks ago I offered to take a look at it for Chogon and got no reply whatsoever.

We must prepare ourselves for the fact that because they expect to receive little in exchange for the source code, they have little impetus to provide it. We don't know for a fact, that they have actually done anything to push this forward since they made the announcement SEVEN MONTHS AGO.

Perhaps they should snag another fan to be an intern with no other duties except to post regular updates. Preferably one who can say "there's nothing new to report" in so many different ways, each post would actually appear to be news.

A fan in the loop would be acceptable but that means there has to be someone relating the progress to the fan. Actually wouldn't it be quicker to post it to the forum. I suspect it would take less than an hour to whizz around the community. Why post to one fan when you can post to hundreds.

Back in the day I worked for the military part of my job at one camp was a daily diary entry for morale purposes. This consisted of a minimum of one line. I used to compose it and write it up before I locked the doors, on my way to the mess for my evening meal. I never missed a meal in two years and the only missing reports were the ones where I was on leave. :)

I didn't say they never post, just not as often as some people like (or demand :? )

So...because your teams have scheduled time to post to a message board (I'm assuming work related) everyone has that same ability? Have you ever noticed that those "numberous posts on other sections of the board" all seem to be made in the span of a day or two? Meaning they show up to say "nothing new, sorry" and then post a couple of little things elsewhere.

So the plan is to give them impetus by acting like 5 year olds on a road trip? "Is it done yet? How 'bout now? Now? I have to go the bathroom. Is it done now?"

I think we need to have "Opinion Tags" that are "Spoiler Tags". If you don't like opinions don't read them. We could have "Opinion Free" forums too.

Don't get rid of the opinions! Without those we can't have these fun little debates where all our old friends/neighbors chime in, along with some newcomers to the Bevin. :D (That's right, I said Bevin! Any objections? )

How about we start a roumour that Cyan has secretly released the Open Source code. The resulting post-storm might actualy kick up a response. ;D

It's good to see people still here. A little friction can be healthy.

Hmm that would explain why the site has been a bit slow lately ...................they had ta reduce the bandwidth for the forum so they could do some beta testing for open source on the same server. :D

They obviously released it to some of the existing shards with a none discloser agreement so they can work all the bugs out before they release it to the masses

I hope Cyan Worlds will let us open Until Uru shards, and when when the source is ready they will close it.

Well, it may be more than a rumor.

See this post for some rampant speculation.

Hey Frisky,

There's no need to resort to personal attacks. BTW road trips don't last seven months. My observations and opinions are from twenty five years professional experience in the software business. Obviously if they have time to make posts in other areas of the forum, they can take a few seconds to drop a post over here too. No rocket science there.

Its been close to a month since we had the last somewhat vague update and yes, letting Cyan know what we are thinking can't hurt, as long as we don't resort to personal attacks and flame wars.
