Gee its been a long time since I visited here, now that Cyan has a definitive plan, I may start coming back more often.

Cyan has never liked subtitles. They were loath to put "The Sequel to Myst" on Riven's name, and in fact in the game the subtitle never appears; you only see "RIVEN".

So, in honor of Cyan, this release's official name should be only the original name: Uru. If a subtitle must be used, it should be "Uru: Online Ages Beyond Myst".

HOWEVER.

Back in the days of the beta tests, we called the Cyan test "Choru" and the Ubi test "Ubiru."

So IF Cyan releases the stuff under the GPL, I propose as an UNOFFICIAL, FANS-ONLY, INSIDE-JOKE name…

"GNUru".

No, you're not joking. Gah. Ok, quick, think.. ah fiery abyss with it. I can't stand "MOOS" that everyone wants to call it (it sounds like an attempt to sound like modern netspeak, blegh) and MOOSE is too silly.

I'll go to Uru. No acronyms, no nothing. Just "Uru".

But now I'll know the mocha/urine connection and use it periodically whenever russian speakers are around :wink:

Because MORE assumed that ONLY the plugin was going to be released, that is clearly what is not going to happen.

To reiterate Myst Online will share many resources with respect to GNU GPL, which to my knowledge is the server base code and the plugin, but may include the client as well

MOOSE is happening, and its not as silly as you think.

Cyan has said that its a new way to do things, which means that they are experimenting with this option (with possible future games maybe using similar methods) and I can't say theh C or the H words here, Cyan knows this, so even though I disagree with this move they are doing, we already have the stuff from UU to learn from.
