1. Correctly label the neighborhoods, rather than furthering the mistake of calling them all "Bevins".

1. Mix up the ages a bit, with say random cavern features in the background, so that if they ARE called hoods instead of being an instance of bevin, the evidence doesn't all point to it being an instance.

2. Fix the instancing, for that matter. Or at least make it look less like spaghetti and more like a subway map. A SMALL system subway map, not those confused twisted balls of yarn some cities have.

3. Open those gates and hidden parts of the city *properly*. Time for our crowbars people! We're going to get in those buildings! :D

Truth be told, that was the primary motivation with what was going to become my formal open source Uru proposal to Cyan.

Sometimes the smallest things, like "Let them eat Bevins!" can start a revolution.

Oh, and I was going to code in a patch with "if Owner(Avatar(Link(Kadish_Aegura_Book))).Name = vidkid7 then ExitUruClient"

1. Overhaul the KI! (including how chat works, so that it actually, y'know, works)

2. Make the KI much easier to acquire for newcomers with no clue what's going on Relto to Neighborhood to Gahreesen != intuitive for a vital piece of equipment).

3. Make getting into a populated area of the game easier for newcomers, so they can get access to help much more quickly (Relto to Neighborhood to Gahreesen to Nexus to GoG on the first attempt is not fast enough). If it means auto-placing everyone in the GoG or Beginner's Bevin 'hood to start, so be it ;).

Two words that solves 2 and 3:

The Cleft.

Make it public. Start at the Cleft, make it public. And put a KI machine there. Or bring back the concept of DIRT, where you get the KI in Descent, by traveling through the caldera into the shaft. But unfortunately thats only if we can use reworked Myst V content.

Yeah, we can get the game in french again. :Will be some work, but some peaple in the french / german / italian / random comunity can get this to work :)

And i second Alahmnat, ki need some re-work.

Ok nasty question there :
adding an age : no probléms,. but for changes that will affect the whole game ? like eventual chages to the ki.. If you want to change someting on all the servers, oh the mess of it !

Chloe, I actually had the same thought a while ago. I wonder how feasible it would be to do without largely reworking the content in the Cleft though, or, as you noted, pulling in the End of Ages material and starting in the Caldera.

To do:

- Find out where testing (ages, servers, you name it) is going to be held and how many need it.

- Brush up on my bug reporting skills.

- Volunteer as much as possible.

- Keep ears peeled for whoever is going to develop the spiral staircase on the stalagmite connected to the Guildhall in the cavern.

- Learn age design the hard way - by learning from everyone's bugs through testing and then digging in, gritting teeth and taking a crack at Python, Blender, Phys-X and whatever else needs learning.

- Make many, many pots of tea. :)

Adding a KI machine, rather easy to do. Just requires a new PRP with the KI machine in it. Wouldn't require editing the original PRPs. Feasibly, with the 3DSMax Plugin, or the PyPRP plugin, you could make one within a day. Just need the modeled machine, and modifiers. Have it reference a script similar to the Gahreesen KI machine and boom. You got a Ki to start out with.

Making it public only requires changes to the python files, and the age file. Everything else is dependent on how you link there. Every age is set up differently. Linking to an age, is handled by stuff coded into the prps. Thats how you make an age public. Its population is controlled by the age file, its "instance" is controlled by the server.

Starting there however would require changing the MOUL client (UruExplorer.exe) so that it knows to link you there, rather than Relto when you first start a new avatar. Basically changing that part of the client back to the POTS code.
