I think SOUL is perfect because the very SOUL of this game has kept it alive!!! And The newest chapter being named SOUL would probably be best because in an open source format...the very SOUL(it's most dedicated fans) will be responsible for it's continued life!!! Have Fun All!!!

Yep - still around... Still patiently waiting for Uru to come back so I can get back into the cavern with other people. It's nice to know that we probably will get back in before 3 years is up . :D

Not all fan created. It will be based on the Myst Online source code - the game and ages we experienced in MOUL with our additions to that.

When one writes a computer program, one usually uses a programming language like C or C++, which has keywords and functions representing high-level concepts. This work that the programmer writes is called the source code. Then, a special program called a compiler is used to translate the source code into instructions that the processor in your computer can understand, or machine code. The compiled program, or machine code, is usually get when you buy/download a program. It's all you need to run the program, but you can't easily make changes because machine code is very tedious to understand and change, and it's impossible to recover the original source code from the machine code.

Cyan giving us the source code to Myst Online allows us to do two things. First, it allows us to compile the program for ourselves and use it as it is (compiling the source code as it is right now would give you the same thing you were able to download from GameTap while Myst Online was still running.) More importantly, having access to the source code makes it easier for us to actually change Uru. Some changes will be necessary to make it work at all again–right now it is programmed to connect only to GameTap's servers, for example. But we will also be able to make other changes to fix bugs and add new features and content.

Yes, but the number and scale of those changes are unknown until we get the code. Also the changes will in all likelihood be optional, particularly if they are controversial, so shard owners will be able to turn them on or off.
