As has been pointed out by both Rusty and Paradox, the aforequoted text (which is likely where Artic_Wagon has the term "front-end shard" from) was for MORE, not for open source Uru. Beyond a data server for familiar Uru content, I don't expect Cyan to host much at all on their own in the near future.

Ah - memories - does take you back, doesn't it, to what now seems like the "old days", when Cyan was going to run multiplayer Uru, with new fan content. I say "old days", but heck, that was back in 2008!

It's interesting to see how much has changed.

Actually, that was only a hope. Lots of people got confused when Cyan announced MORE. Cyan was going to simply open a server and have fans put content into it. Over time, if/when Cyan got better, they might consider generating content as well.

Cyan was going to run Uru - do the authentication, run the server, handle billing, handle the technical problems. They were going to do everything except generate new content. Fans were going to make new content. Cyan would put the content on their server. No fan run servers (all will be fan servers today), no fan changes to the client, still a Cyan system. New content from the fans, but Cyan was still running it.

As I said - ah, the old days. Different world.
