Masterserver

How about making 1 masterserver which establishes a connection whit servers run by individals and clients willing to join those? Acctually it's a bit like halo does it. This way the servers can be checked by the masterserver. The ages written should be uploaded and downloadable for server hosting. This way every server can choos whitch ages to host and whitch not. Or we also have a data server whit all trusted ages on it.

I feel most for:
1 masterserver whitch is a bridge between clients and small home hosted servers
1 (or more) dataserver(s) on whitch trusted ages will be posted
A downloadeble server whitch you can run at home on windows linux or any other. This is the acctual server but it's hosted by someone at home and connects to the data andd masterserver.

Is this an option? Please post!

This is more or less the way things worked during Until Uru, before Gametap, with Cyan running the data server. Right now Cyan is running the whole thing, based on donations, so hosting your own server isn't really necessary. Maybe in the future, something like that could help speed things up for international players.

Open Source will, I'm sure, create the opportunity to run a server from home. It might be questionable how viable most domestic setups will be as far as supporting multiple players, but we'll need to wait and see on that.

Since Open Source will mean that multiple shards will be possible, the present hard coding of IP addresses will need to be replaced by something closer to Until Uru's way of working, so the proposal sounds more "probable" than "possible". Over on OpenUru.org there is discussion of a Hypergrid(http://forums.openuru.org/viewforum.php?f=47): This is really for non-Plasma sims, but the prospect of a similar network for Plasma shards is something to consider.
