Someone is doing a let's play of the Complete Chronicles on youtube, and I just want to share the pain of watching someone figure out the mechanics of the game

I could relate to the repeated accidental ladder climbing.

Accidentally climbing the ladder is a mood in uru. also, I just realized he never had the major issue I did of falling off the little cliff there and having to start all over again. I did that far too many times (specially back in the prologue days)

Tried to watch it, but my mouse-hand (been playing Uru with a mouse since 2003; total muscle-memory now) kept involuntarily twitching every time he made a wrong move.

Now you know how Cyan feels when they watch tester play. (aw man this puzzle is so easy, how are you not getting this?*)

* but they are more professional than that.

Oh I know -- I imagine it's probably a bit more aggravating when you've created the puzzle but like you said, they're more professional. I've actually been watching every episode this guy's made and he'll literally be looking at the solution to a puzzle and just not connect that it's the solution. It's both great and infuriating.

also he's currently playing To D'ni and just yelling at his character for not being able to jump over the barriers blocking the stairs. so that's something i'm sure we can all relate too.

Infuriating as it is, we've all been "that guy" at one point. :)

Brings back memories of spending hours in Prologue struggling to jump the railing on the balcony in Bevin, trying to land on the Classroom roof and bag that #&@*% marker! (And then sitting in the courtyard below and watching other explorers do it with ease. Arrgh!) Or learning to climb the ropes on the tent in Ae'gura.

Good times.
