Let's see:

Age - each alternate universe you get to explore
link - teleport from one Age to another
linking book - the books you use to link
Relto - the Age you start out in
hood - the small area linked to from the first book on your bookshelf.
d'ni - an underground cavern in Earth. Also refers to the people who once lived there and their language.

Then as far as Uru additions, there's
ABM - Ages Beyond Myst: the single-player edition of the game without expansion packs
Prime - the content from ABM
xp - expansion pack
To D'ni - the first single-player expansion pack, which included Ae'gura and the hoods
PotS - Path of the Shell: the second and last single-player expansion pack, which included a bit more of d'ni and the two Ages Ahnonay and Er'cana.
UU - the multiplayer edition of Uru with no added content
D'mala - the shard of UU run by Cyan, with official story until the 19th of December
UL - Uru Live
MO - Myst Online (Uru Live) or the website Myst Obsession (shared with Uru Obsession).
UO - Uru Obsession

To expand a bit on GZM and CGZM -

GZM - Great Zero Marker (generally refers to the first two "red/green" sets)
CGZM - Cathedral Great Zero Marker (refers to "yellow" markers for missions found in the GZ "Cathedral" or back area)

Also:

GT - GameTap
TGT - The Great Tree
TCT - The Cavern Today
CCN - Cavern Communications Network (includes TCT)
SWN - Spoken Word Night (Wednesday night event in UO 'hood)
CAT - Cavern Activities Team

Well, hey then!

CTD: Crash to Desktop.

And one that's not an abbreviation, but a word used oddly:

Relto'd Out: Linked to Relto (used in the context of leaving an area, i.e. "I was chatting with Tweek before he relto'd out.")

Personally, I leave out "out." I just relto.

Possibly GZO for GZ Observation.

There are two possible GZCs - GZ Courtyard after your first 15 markers and GZ Cathedral after your second.

Need advice from a moderator ?? !! ??

Some of the followings are not abbreviations. Should I add them to my list in the first post ?

Oh, come on, why are we just looking for abbreviations?

Creating a thread that lists commonly used abbreviations such as UU, MOUL, TPotS etc is a good idea.

Creating a thread in which we make up abbreviations, such as the quoted example, is madness, in my opinion.

Perhaps, if you wish to change to include commonly used terms. :) Uru Live does have a bit of its own language that might not be immediately familiar to newbies. Ultimately though I'd say it's up to you if you want to include that information or not. It's your thread. *shrug*

I think that words such as "link," "Age," etc. can be as opaque as other items in the list. Since this is intended as a way for new explorers to get a handle on the lingo, it seemed appropriate.

Also, remember that not all abbreviations are acronyms. ;)

I do not see it as "my thread" but as a community thread.

If you read my first post, you will find that I acted about this idea but I was expecting that somebody with much more experience was going to take charge. I am only trying to do what is best, specially considering the fact that English is not my main spoken language

If it is proper, I would not mind one bit adding all your suggestions.

Btw, I would not mind changing the title of the thread to something like

Abbreviations list and other definitions

And if ever you would have a better one, I am really open to suggestions.

Sory, I didn't mean to be abbrasive, I just thought it odd, 'tis all.

Maybe an idea would be to have a list of commonly used abbreviations/definitions, and a list of more obscure, rarely used items.

No offense taken.

As for your suggestion, do you mean two different lists in the same first post ? It would be ok with me, unless I copy this Uru GLOSSARY. link given by Whitch2 (link only)..

Yep, two lists in the same post - the first, more prominent post for the more common terms (TPotS, UU, GZM, DRC etc.), and then a second underneath for these weird terms that are springing up, that aren't used nearly as much.

Ok, I will follow your suggestion. Thank you for the help and if ever you see something I am doing wrong, please give me some more "hints"

Great Zero Cathedral? I beg your pardon, but I never heard any reference to a cathedral in the context of the Great Zero. Great Zero spoiler:
The notebook about the Great Zero mentions the Great Zero Courtyard and the Great Zero Calibration Center only, apart from teh Great Zero Antechamber.
And while I am at it, CGZM means Calibration Great Zero Marker. ;)
