Hello everyone,

Following the resounding success of the 'City Race', i would like to know if you'd be interested in a new event: The 'Swimming Race'.

This event would be held on saturday, September 7, in my Ahnonay Age.

The above poll will run until September 1st.
Please select an option.
Thanks in advance.

Huh...What an interesting idea....

...Plus we kinda needed an idea for a "sports" event for Episode 3 of Uru2U.

Charura,

No, it`s not different. Picture doesn't show everything because i used an oval picture.
This crops a few things around the edges.

Picture's purpose is to show the course for the eventual race.

Having had a good time watching the city race I think a swim race would be great from a spectator's viewpoint too, if the age can hold them. I can just see the water churning around all the swimmers and the spectators moving along the edge of the island. If you stationed a couple of videographers along the course it would make a fun video.

You should make some lengthes of the race with different swimming styles: we can swim in run mode, we can swim in walk mode, & we can swim in strafe mode.

or maybe do a triathlon thingy: swim in water to & from the screens, do a parkour run on the metal structures of the screens, & also a race on the main island

Hello again,

Just a thought...
I must admit there is something i really don't understand here. 200+ views so far on this post and poll only shows 17 responses. It simply doesn`t match. Have i omitted a 5th option ??

Please select your preference. If it falls under 'Not interested', that's fine with me. Option is there to indicate if this event needs to be carried on or not.

More info...
Swimming competition would be divided in 'Heats'.
Each 'heat' would include an equal number of swimmers.
First two from each 'heat' would advance to the next round.
Final round would include 8 participants.

Buoys...
This is why i need some helpers for this event.
The way i see it is simple... Helpers would wear the green hat and a green shirt matching its color. This hat is perfect to represent a buoy. Try it for yourself in Ahnonay. Stand still in the water and you'll see.

Course...
The above picture is only there as an example. I have different ideas for that.
I also thought it would be fun to have different courses throughout the event, like 'course 1' for the first round, 'course 2' for the second round, ... , 'course n' for the final.

Spectators...
Watery Ahnonay is the perfect place for spectators. Videos of the event would be easy to shoot and, as Nevy'n wrote... it would be a blast for their UrU2U's 3rd release.

Start and Finish...
NO runjumps would be allowed at the start. Avis would be aligned in the water with their feet not touching the ground. This way, all competitors get equal chance. Same would apply for the Finish line... they would need to exit the water simply by running out of the 'pool' with no runjumps allowed.

Ahnonay Capacity...
This is not an issue.

Oh... one more thing... my tower door would be closed for this event !

Mouski, remember to divide the total viewers per number of posts on the thread to see the real "attractiveness".

200 / 11 = 18 approx with 17 of them responding...that's a high percentage.

I just don't see how we can swim "faster" than other swimmers. Racing & grabbing markers I can figure this out easily... not with swimming. Even if I swim 400 times... I won't get better at that "sport"

So that's why I wish you could make something to make the difference. I just see in my head a big bunch of 8 swimmers (if that's one heat) swimming together from the start to the finish line. :?

Annabelle,

I understand what you mean by dividing the total number of views with the number of posts but...
If you're 'not interested', you will NOT leave a post but you are still permitted to select an option and, in this case, the 'Not interested' option would be appropriate.

Swimming faster or slower...
Yes Annabelle, it is possible. Why ?

1. Buoys
Don't forget you need to swim around those. This 'obstacle' is, in itself, a parameter to take into account.

2. Natural Current
Even though current is off, the avi goes faster or slower depending which direction he or she swims.

3. Screen
This is another obstacle because it`s easy to stop the avi from swimming if you touch a border. Some will try to get as close as possible to it in order to gain time. This obstacle needs to be approached carefully.

I'm not sure exactly how this forum software works, but I've gone into this thread multiple times, sometimes signed in, sometimes not. Each time could be a 'view' so the only thing you would know for sure is that 17 unique visitors have come to the thread, IMO.

Not sure if this would apply to anyone else who read the post and didn't vote, but since you ask: for me, I'd need to know when you might hold the event before knowing whether I'd want to spectate. If the timezone and day of the week worked, then I would be interested in watching, but it's not something I'd sit up to 2am to watch. So I didn't vote because I couldn't be sure I WOULD want to spectate if it was very late at night/early in the morning.

So a provisional "yes" to "spectate" from me. And I haven't voted formally. Hope this helps explain at least one missing vote
