As promised at the AGM, here is a thread for the Radio Free D'ni announcements of upcoming shows.

We intend to begin on Sunday 17th August at 1300 KI, 8 PM UK time, with a show I've called "Introductions" - the theme being tracks used by the artists as live set openers, as far as possible taken from live albums or concert videos. And also because it will be the introduction of Radio Free D'ni. Edison, Mal and I will all be there for some or all of the time. We will gather in the City plaza.

Please use
http://aegura.harriman4.com/8000.php
to connect to the broadcast stream - there are three or four options for playing the stream.

To pique your interest, shows that are in the pipeline include: -

Jazz on a Clear Day
Vocalese and other unexpected instrumentation
The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
British Prog Rock

Some of these are finished and ready to go, others need more work :)

And there will be shows from Malaclypse and Edison Rex that as yet have no titles. Gogo will also put together a show for us, which I'm looking forward to.

I wrote up a calendar event on the Guild of Messengers site for ya:

For the next concerts, if you'd like to submit the event yourself, head to this link and type up a short blurb.

We'll look it over and get it approved and promoted. Have fun! :)

That's great news, Alan :)

Will you have a FB (or other kind of) page, and/or a Twitter?

See you tomorrow!

Thank you Doobes for the calendar entry, and I will do my best to be sure you have advance warning of our subsequent concerts. "Introductions" is ready to go and I hope to entertain you all tomorrow night (is that a cue for a song... ? maybe for another show) :D

Malaclypse is planning a show for 31st August. A History of Supertramp is the current working title.

I plan to present a show of British Prog on September 14th. This could be part 1 of a long series - Edison Rex suggested the theme, without knowing quite how much of this stuff I have :) I will keep you updated here if there are any changes.

Times for both shows will be 13 KI, Sunday afternoon / evening, meeting on the Plaza in Ae'gura.

Please use

to connect to the broadcast stream - this will give you three or four options for playing the stream. .

Hope to see you there :)

Hi Ainia. While I think that dancing shoes may be suitable for bits of Mal's show, it is really hard to choose British Prog that is easy to dance to. But I'm always ready to be surprised

Maybe I should get some video capture program installed....

Hmm, I recall Supertramp having plenty of dance tunes in their repertoire... are you guys planning something "completely different" with this group's works??

Either way, I'm still gonna wear my dancing boots! :P

Nothing outrageous, no. In keeping with with his theme, Mal's playlist is not a "Greatest Hits" collection, but also it's not a set of obscure, difficult stuff. Mal's shows are always good: I'm not as familiar with Supertramp as Mal is, so I'm sure it will be a great collection.

Upcoming shows from Radio Free D'ni are as follows, provided MOULa is up and running and the Radio Free D'ni computer problems don't hit us - the Mac that Ed uses to mix voice and music streams and send them out had a video card failure, but we think we have addressed that one

Sunday 28th September - Jazz on a Clear Day (AlanDJ)
This includes jazz with a summer festival feel, inspired by Bert Stern's film of the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival, "Jazz on a Summers Day". Sadly, we don't have a substitute for Anita O'Day.

Sunday 12th October - A History of AC/DC (Malaclypse)
Mal presents the history of another great group, complete with representative tracks, and not just a "Greatest Hits" either :)

Sunday 26th October - The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. (AlanDJ)
Alex Harvey had been "The New Tommy Steele", a rock-n-roller, blues and soul artist and played in the pit band for "Hair" for seven years. Then he met a fading prog rock band called Tear Gas. The result was very theatrical, very Scottish, and very good...

As always, the show will begin at 13:00 KI on the day. Meet on the city plaza.

listen on http://aegura.harriman4.com/8000.php

@Morning-satellite: how much prog can I find? I stopped counting at 100 albums.
