At this point, I lost the connection to the internet radio station and the stream went dead. My apologies - I did eventually recover the connection (so I've not broken it...) but it was too late to go on. It would have distracted you from your door runs anyway |:)

To answer a couple of questions that were asked during the show: it's not Tony Levin on Dodgy Boat (played during the preshow) - the track is from the Allan Holdsworth "Wardenclyffe Tower" album, and Jimmy Johnson is the bass player.

Incidentally, Wardenclyffe Tower itself was part of Nikolai Tesla's attempt to rival Guglielmo Marconi's wireless communications system, and like a lot of Tesla's constructios, looks a little odd to modern eyes. It could almost be steampunk except steampunk will bend itself out of shape to avoid the use of electricity. Retro-futuristic is a bit closer.

Abbey Road was of course released in stereo.

In two weeks time we will have "A History of Passport" from Mal.

There is easily enough material to support another similar show, with people like Jack Bruce, Chris Squire, Ashley Hutchings, Stanley Clarke and so on. I thought of calling it "Second Bass" but after realising that the term holds a hidden meaning for American adolescents, I'm using "Return to Bass" as the working title now :)

Argh, argh argh. Once again I am late in announcing our show

On Sunday 4th October Radio Free D'ni will present a History of Passport.

Meet in the plaza - show will start at 1300 KI and run till 1500, that's 8 to 10 pm UK time (Western European Time), 9 to 11 pm for locations from Spain to Sweden (Central European Time) with some pre-show music so you can tune in your music players to the stream and post-show music for those interested in the tracks that didn't quite make the cut for the 2-hour show.

Put http://aegura.harriman4.com/8000.php in your browser to select the way you want to listen to us
or
plug http://aegura.harriman4.com:8000/stream.mp3 into your audio player of choice: proved to work with Winamp and VLC player.

This will be something of a part 1 - if you like it and want Mal to put part 2 together, let us know, on the plaza or here...

By the way, if you have an idea for a show or a setlist you'd like to share with us in the cavern, give us a shout and we'll help.

Edison Rex, Malaclypse and AlanDJ - your Radio Free D'ni team.

Just a note to remind you that the next Radio Free D'ni broadcast will be this Sunday, 18th October, at 13 KI on the Plaza. We will be playing a set put together by our friend Janeerah, of his favourite Tangerine Dream tracks. Jan will be with us on the plaza but not on Teamspeak unless we manage to persuade him :)

The duties of the default PR guy are never done. I really thought I had already made an announcement, but it looks like I'm all behind again. Comes of sitting in front of a computer too much.

This Sunday, 1st November, Radio Free D'ni will broadcast another in the series of Brit Prog shows. This one is Brit Prog 3, The Canterbury Scene. Alert listeners will know that I've already done Brit Prog 4. I never was very good at counting.

I do note that it is DST day in the US on November 1st. You will change at 0200 on Sunday morning, so it should be done by the time we start the show. However I don't know if or when KI time will change. KI time is currently MDT, i.e. it has DST applied. Hopefully it will change on Sunday. The UK and Europe have already made the change. I will check KI time on Sunday morning just to make sure.

Edit: KI time changed on Sunday morning, so the KI times to world times shown below are correct.

Meet in the plaza - show will start at 1300 KI and run till 1500, that should be 8 to 10 pm UK time (Western European Time), 9 to 11 pm for locations from Spain to Sweden (Central European Time) with some pre-show music so you can tune in your music players to the stream and post-show music for those interested in the tracks that didn't quite make the cut for the 2-hour show.

Put http://aegura.harriman4.com/8000.php in your browser to select the way you want to listen to us
or
plug http://aegura.harriman4.com:8000/stream.mp3 into your audio player of choice: proved to work with Winamp and VLC player.

I was told last time that urutunes.com also works for Radio Free D'ni, so you can try that as well.

By the way, if you have an idea for a show or a setlist you'd like to share with us in the cavern, give us a shout and we'll help.

Come along and be Progressive with us :)

Edison Rex, Malaclypse and AlanDJ - your Radio Free D'ni team.

Edit: KI time has changed as expected on Sunday morning.

Yes indeed, and I'm sorry to be so late with the reminder. Theme tunes from radio and TV tonight, a few that you may know a lot that you may not :) All full tracks too, not 30-second wonders. :)

I was told last time that http://www.urutunes.com/ also works for Radio Free D'ni, so you can try that as well.

By the way, if you have an idea for a show or a setlist you'd like to share with us in the cavern, give us a shout and we'll help.

Come along and give us a kiss... ;)

Edison Rex, Malaclypse and AlanDJ - your Radio Free D'ni team.

We had at least 18 listeners, perhaps more (icecast was showing at least 2 less than we had at the end of the evening). Thanks to all, and I hope it was fun. It was a lot of fun to put together, but took me far too long, and I had a lot more I wanted to say but ended up with not enough time to write it all down :o

In two weeks time we will have a History of Jethro Tull, assembled by Malaclypse, and then we will all have a winter solstice holiday and return in four weeks time. I'm not sure what the show will be but we will think of something :)

Drat, I missed one, a quite important one for me, the BBC Film review show. A nice piece of Billy Taylor jazz piano.

Now I need to find another 20 tracks to go with it. Anyone want to help, please... ?
