I was wondering as I was wandering (heh :D ) around Eder Delin just now and maybe someone has already spoken about this elsewhere, but I can't help but wonder why the floating monument isn't rotating like in Eder Kemo. I keep expecting to find a switch or a trigger somewhere to get it started spinning.

Personally i have no idea! :D

Though it is possible that the Dni just decided not to always do the same thing, maybe they felt something stationary was more appropriate for this age?

Maybe im wrong? lol

The problem is, we just don't have any history on Delin. Who knows why anything *is* in the age.

Actually, I can't help but wonder if the monument in Kemo is -broken-, and NOT supposed to be rotating.

After all, the age seems to be

A) Overgrown with strange plants.

B) Invaded by strange black bugs.

C) Infested by strange glowing bugs.

D Defaced by unknown graffiti artists.

E) Possibly losing stability as evidenced by the clouds and frequent rain.

Maybe Kemo is the D'ni version of 'run down and falling apart'.

It is also, I believe, the only Age outside of Gahreesen that has a steady, lit, unbroken Maintainer's beacon. (Not just the ones on the floor in the first Gahreesen tower -- the one outside is also steady, lit, and unbroken.)

I'm inclined to think that Kemo is actually in perfect condition. The Maintainers would know if it weren't.

The Maintainers don't much care anymore.

Hee!

Unless I am mistaken, the statue in Delin has a wood engraving, correct? I don't recall seeing that in Kemo's statue...but it's been a little while since I checked.

You miss the point. The point is that there's no "alert" via the Maintainer beacon that something is wrong. So presumably Kemo can be considered safe.

Oh yeah, now I see... I hadn't thought of that! The Eder Kemo one must be broken.

Darn. I really like the spinning.

Since normal decay would not cause the Teledahn and Eder Delin maintainer marks to start flashing, at least not in such a regular manner, I can only conclude that they are supposed to be flashing... :)

Or...who knows what causes maintainer's marks to start or stop flashing? I'll make sure to ask one of the DRC next time I'm in the cavern and see one around.

There was some speculation, I think... a long time ago when we first saw Delin through a hood imager on D'mala on the similarities between Kemo and Delin. I couldn't tell you where, nor the actual content, nor what was speculation and what had been told to us, but there was something that sounded official about the rotating stones needing to be there. Something about upkeep of the Ages or something. Based on this wholly unreliable source, I'm inclined to think that the Delin stone is broken, and is not doing its job, hence the larger overgrowth and things.

Again, purely speculation, but that's how it seems to me.

No, see, because Delin's NOT overgrown. It's just a more lush garden age than Kemo...
