I read somewhere on here that as of today (The URU Launch) gametap/URU would support Vista. I signed up for gametap yesterday and the gametap installer crashes for me every time I try to install it. As a result I can't download/play URU yet.

Any ETA on Vista support so I don't go insane here?

Please don't use urulive.com links.. they mess with cookies. Please use mystonline.com from now on.

Also the Vista Gametap client can now be downloaded from gametap.com/reinstall

I'll use any links I please! Ok, ok, settle down I'm just kidding! What do you mean when you say they mess with cookies (I know what cookies are, it's the mess with part I don't get) and how do you point to a thread without using urulive.com links.

For people who are logged into mystonline.com it will not allow them to post a reply if they use the urulive.com links. You can point to a thread by simply subbing out mystonline for urulive in the text.

Like for this thread, I see this in my URL 'window'
http://www.mystonline.com/forums/viewto ... 4&start=15

If I saw www.urulive.com/forums/etc.... I coud just substitute mystonline.com and it would come to the same place..... :)

It's just a hang-over from when they switched from Urulive.com to Mystonline.com.

If you still have URUlive.com links, please delete ALL cookies associated with Urulive.com and Mystonline.com and then sign on again using ONLY Mystonline.com and then you'll be fine, and stay signed on. You'll also have the proper notifications of what posts are new, as well.

Hope that helps explain better. If you need more clarification, just ask. :D

Thanks Mac and Toria, that may explain why one of the computers that I check the forums on does not notify new posts properly.

I cannot get Gametap to install on my Vista PC... It asks me to be logged in as administrator even if I click "Run as administrator." Any suggestions?

Are you sure you granted your user account administrator privileges?

Yes, my account is set to Admistrator (as opposed to "Standard User.)
Should there be any other reason?

EDIT: I've also tried disabling UAC. No go.

EDIT: I've contacted Gametap and they've told me that this is a known issue and they're working on a fix. They said they have no time frame and the only suggestion is to try again in a few days.

I had that problem too but then I rebooted and launched the game with the same player/avatar I had just created and it worked fine. I was able to play for over an hour--without lag even. I wish the same for you.

For those getting Stackdumps upon linking into Relto in Vista..

Go to whatever folder you designated as your Gametap games folder, and look for a folder entitled 140000150. Then in that folder open the data folder.

In here, locate UruExplorer.exe, right click, and bring up properties.

Bring up the compatibility tab. Tell Uru to run in Windows 98 SE mode, and run as administrator, hit OK.

You should now be able to run Uru through Gametap just fine.
