Perhapse a feature should be added so that we could import our own prints and textures onto clothing?

It would save Cyan a lot of time with all the feature requests for deisngs and logo's although I could see them running into two problems.

1. Copyright. If someone wanted to choose a logo that was copyrighted already by someone else and didn't have permission to use it in Uru then Cyan could get into a lot of trouble.

2. Implementation. Uploading texture tools would be rather hard to implement and you would also have to make your design larger without it becoming pixelated ;)

Thoughts? :? :)

There is a third issue and it is a major one. Custom clothing makes inappropriate uploads very easy. There is just no way that I can think of for Cyan to prevent people from creating obscene or otherwise 'offensive' clothing without paying someone to monitor and approve each upload as it goes through. Keeping in mind that what constitutes 'offensive' material is entirely subjective, and you have a nightmare.

Personally, I'd be more offended by people wearing shirt promoting terrible bands than anything else, but I doubt that sentiment is shared by many.

That's a good point.

Btw what do you class as a 'terrible' band? :)

Perhaps Cyan could run a monthly contest where users vote on proposed additions to the wardrobe, from a list of pre-approved submissions. This would prevent obscene clothing, but it would also probably prevent obscure designs from being included (at least at first).

There would have to be a standard format for submissions, and a minimum level of quality. It would probably be best for all involved if it was partially administered by a community group or guild.

Think of Half life and Counter strike. They have a feature in which you can upload you very own 'spray paint' that you can spray in a level for everybody to see. Even animated ones.

Some are very obscene, resulting in many servers banning 'porn-sprays'.

Although it's a good idea, it will never work without limits.

Maybe custom writings for shirts could be written, if a word filter were implemented. Even then, there is lots someone can get away with.

Sounds like a good idea although I would also like to upload my own styles onto jackets and stuff!

What about a community solution, one where the new T-shirts could be shown out in public and then voted whether they should be included. This would be a good way to keep peoples ideas unhindered yet still appropriate.

If we made them appear in public then everyone would want all of them! :)

No they would appear in public for a few days as they got the required number of votes to become real shirts. If after some amount of time they did not get the votes they they would disappear. That way all people would need to do is not vote for bad/offensive shirts and we would get new, clean content.

New clothing is one the thing I look forward the most.

The idea of vote seams a good one.
Allowing the user to put some content directly might prove not so easy to do for cyan though.

I would like a "until uru" logo on my shirt, in memory of the good old day.

and what about dress, skirt, some kind of formal clothing for parties.

I also would like to see more clothing options and opportunities for custom clothing. I have an idea for starting a D'ni theatrical group, that would perform plays in the style of what we think the D'ni would have done, and it would be great to have costumes.

I know it wouldn't be feasible right now, being that the focus is on getting everything up and running to it's full potential, but maybe in future the developers could look at a marketplace system like they have on there.com. It works really well, and would add a universe of options for people.
