This is a question that really concerns me.
I live in Germany, I don't have a credit card, and I keep wondering if Cyan is aware of the fact that this could be a problem for many.
I don't know anybody who owns a credit card and ask for the favour, so ...
Has anybody heard or read about plans to use paypal, maybe?
How do you pay when you subscribe to GT? How is the situation in the States, or in other countries? Is it perfectly normal and easy to have a credit card? Are others here who share my concerns?

The details about Live and international users are still being worked out. Noone as of yet has any information on how international users will be able to pay for Live.

Shoot not all the details have been worked out for how those without credit cards in the U.S. will be able to pay for it, at least not to my knowledge.

I think Gametap like most other companies on the internet accepts Credit Cards pretty much exclusively.

you buy a gamecase (which is actually just like any dvd case with the games cover on it. usually 25 euros here) and inside theres a card (much like a credit card) with a serialkey on its back. you go on your accountmanaging site and input that code there. Now you can play 2 months the game and after that time the account gets freezed (unless you already bought the next gamecard and already inputted the code, in that case it just goes on like a normal subscription)

it is not yet common neither in germany nor in european countries to pay by credit card. many people even don't have any, as Dream of Myst already mentioned. gametap and cyan will not succeed internationally in charging the monthly fees in that way.
they should consider using online payment services like paypal or something like that... (this has also already been mentioned by an uru-fan in the forum) they offer secure, fast and easy payments for both sides, the sellers and the buyers.
i hope and i think that they will work it out or know that already themselves...

jana

well in Denmark - neighbour country to Germany - everybody has creditcards. Even 13 year old kids.
So its not true that Europe don't have creditcards...

There's an epidemic of credit cards in the UK, which is technically Europe...

I also have a US and UK paypal account, so that might be a possible way to go.

I live in France and nearly everybody there has a credit card. All the shops you go to, you can pay by credit card so I am surprised to hear that nearly nobody in Europe has a credit card .

Paying by credit card is a possibility in the Netherlands as well. And yes, it's an other neighbour country to Germany. :) However Paypal works as well over here.

But seriously, I think as not US citizens we will have plenty opportunities to pay our monthly fee one way or the other.

As I said it hasn't been decided I don't think how that will be worked out for international explorers. But for those of us in the U.S. Gametap required us to give them our credit card numbers. Maybe in the coming months things will be worked out for those who would rather not pay with credit card or can't pay with a credit card. But at the moment it's pretty much required to give them a credit card number. When I signed up just this morning, yes I went ahead and did it even though I may not use the service, it required me to give them my credit card number.
