Shorah and Greetings guys...

Okay, so I've started on the list (final full list of the Ages we have so far should be up sooner rather than later - ie tonight)
With the following format:

Abysos
by Trylon
A small beach age submitted for the Rapid Age development Competition.
Image
Download Link (ULM): http://contestlibrary.hbyte.net/
Topics on Abysos:
http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=350

Status: AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
WORK IN PROGRESS - MAY BE UPDATED

Any other information that we might need?

Oh yes, I as going to ask about the multiple ULM libraries...Uh...I seem to now be registered in at least three...and am finding odd niche subdirectories and such:
http://ulm.hbyte.net/index.php
http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/Ages/index.php5
http://ulm.hbyte.net/Ages/

Just asking about that. Anyway, thanks for the info, Leonardo.
Whilyam, I think that Leonardo's update there and the points brought up in this topic show just why we should put this up - people are having trouble finding things, ages are dead but are still listed, some can't be found, others seem to be broken. Us pointing these things out aren't to slap down any previous efforts or to ignore up-coming changes. They are to help the status as it is now. Sure, the Cyanists will be making a Library Age (or I certainly hope so at least, as they have called "dibs" on that Age concept) and will be providing an easier way for people to get Explorer Written Ages, but we, the Explorers and Guilds, should give them a slight helping hand on that end.

use the:

http://ulm.hbyte.net

for the ULM url.

The one for the Maintainers was for something else way back when, is now defuct, but will be used for something else in the future. So everyone should have their ULM set up to see the above url.

Another point of interest.

I do not beleive that all the ages will be accessible through More.

Many Creators will still be working on their ages and will need
help/support from volonteers and "new volonteers"
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Suggestion

I beleive we should have a specific section for all the technical stuff
with links to what is needed to be able to visit those ages.

At GoMa, not long ago, Dot said to yetiputer that defective links will be fixed.

Make a distiction with Ilathid, it's NOT a Uru Age, and can NOT be loaded up using the ULM nor linked to from Uru:CC. It's it's own enity using a game engine like Riven (no 3D free movement). The screen shots from it are beautiful. Jennifer_P over at the GoW would be a good contact person for Ilathid.

Okay, well I've gotten pretty far, and sent out quite a few "Can I use your Age" requests, but I won't be able to access any of these ages, or play U:CC for a while. Unfortunately my 2 year old god-daughter has VERY good taste in games. So far she has chewed her way through Resident Evil, Max Payne, Half Life, And U:CC. I was wondering why it wasn't working - the tooth marks should have given it away.

So, to cut things short, I'll ask Ametist if I can use her screenshots. If not, can we have a volunteer to go in and grab some flattering photos of these wonderful ages?

Oh yeah, I was thinking of dividing these up into categories - Finished Ages, Ages In Progress, Dead Ages (there is still much we can learn from failed or dead ages) and other Ages of Note (Not Uru Ages, but other fan made projects.)

Greetings and Shorah, all!

Don't worry, I haven't given up n this project - far from it, in fact. Yesterday I was about halfway through before I got hit by a hijacking virus. I now can't access any GoW or GoMa forums, and my google links are getting redirected. Once I get it fixed I'll be able to finish up the list, but I'm a little stuck for now.

Updates when I can...:S

Things to check.

I hope you have a good Antivirus and a good Antispyware.
(they not the same thing, you need both)

1- Check the Display tab/tools and check for a "Hot Bar" option
Hot Bars are spyware or virus.

2- Check the Program Files through Windows Explorer for a Hot Bar
application.

3- Do a full search on your pc for Hot Bar.

4- If you have many Restoration Points, go back in time to a
clean restoration point.

5- Before going back more than once, do not forget to cancel
your previous restoration to always come back to your present one.

Feedback time.

It seems that this project was ill received by some Guilds Members.

See how much here...
re: Communication Problems...
http://www.guildofmaintainers.org/Forum ... 7874#p7874

One very positive side effect was that the Guild of Maintainers are reviewing their infos
and are planning to create a list of their own that should be better and more official
than ours. (I do not see a problem with that)

Since Shevek and me were trying to make such a clear list, I would say that the GoMa's
work will be very welcome.
A big thank you to my old friend Yetiputer for trying to act as a mediator at the GoMa and
another bigger thank you to "dtierce" who has volonteered for gathering all pertinent infos.

Fun Note
Somebody said that it looked like I seemed to have just awaken.
That is a good one since I have posted around 2500 times so far.Image
My first list was started on Feb 2008
My average: Total posts: 2493 (0.94% of total / 3.54 posts per day)
First post ever on this site, Oct 16, 2006

Ok ok, I am aware that Rusty_Russel has a much higher total.Image

Ugh. Okay. Shorah, all.

Back on my feet again...and I've done the list.
Below will be a sample of that list, as I have yet to receive thumbs ups from Age Writers.
However, I would like to thank Ametist and Corvus for the screenshots, and to the authors who have been so prompt in their replies.

When I put the prelimary list up of ages I have collected in my searches (far and wide) I'll put them into three categories: COMPLETE AGES (with a note if the age is DEAD or not)
WORKS IN PROGRESS (for all those dreams yet to be realized)
SPECIAL MENTIONS (for those special works that aren't quite uploadable - Ilathid, La Casa, and so on...)
For now, one age sample:

ABYSOS:

By Trylon

COMPLETED AGE

AERIE:

by Kierra

“Aerie is an abandoned mansion on a lake island, once inhabited by an exiled Queen.
But that was long ago, and the mansion has been holding its secrets well over the years.
There is a lot more to this island home then meets the eye.”

COMPLETED AGE

...Okay, something has gone wrong with the code here. It's late. I'll work it out tomorrow. Trying to unthread five of these looks like too much work right now and I have fifty Ages listed. I will post the list tomorrow, but for now, bed...

But what I must say is this: IF I AM treading on anyone's toes, please say so.

This is not to poke fun at the Guilds, or to unseat them from their thrones. This is not to upset the balance or rock the boat. This is to help, in a way that I thought I could - a job needed doing, and I wanted to help.
If it is the general consensus of the Guilds that this sort of attitude is not what is needed, then simply say so.
This may sound bitter and childish, but I assure you it is not - have run into trouble from the GoW and the GoA so far in my endeavors... And it does seem that taking action is rocking their boats - if you need us pro-actives to back off for a time then all you have to do is say so, and tell us when you are ready to take our help on board.

Ugh. It is late and I'm tired. I'll post the rest of the ages I have discovered (so far!) up tomorrow if there are no objections...I have contacted all the Age writers I could find...and have had a few positive reactions already. I hope the rest fair as well.

Have you discovered the "Ongoing Age Projects" list at the Guild of Writers' Wiki:

http://guildofwriters.com/wiki/Ongoing_Age_Projects

The way you would navigate to this is by going to the main page (www.guildofwriters.com), then clicking on "Wiki", then clicking on "Ongoing Age Projects" under the Ages header.

There are already pages of information on some of the ages you've listed. And, if you log in with your GoW username and password, you can add more pages.

Personally, I think it would be great if your compiled list found its home there instead of on these forums.

Hey Rob.

Yes, we have found the list on the GoW wiki, and the list on the GoMa wiki, even the lists on the NEW TREE websites, and even age lists of the OLD shard system. Yes, I would love to see this list have a good home, just one that can easily be found by a new player - The GoMa links are broken, the GoW lists have little or no information (apart from Kierra's works) and end in dead-end links...and they also do not correlate to themselves...:

LIST ONE: AGES IN PROGRESS

# 1.2 Abysos
# 1.3 Aerie
# 1.4 Andy's Nexus
# 1.5 Camp Bravo Day Time
# 1.6 Camp Bravo Night Time
# 1.7 Cerrodahn
# 1.8 Ellis Fen
# 1.9 GreenWood Cottage
# 1.10 Latahara
# 1.11 Maw
# 1.12 Paah'kwehNew
# 1.13 SftSoK Hub Age
# 1.14 Sonavio
# 1.15 Temple of Illumination
# 1.16 Teralee Falls
# 1.17 Tsoidahl Sheegahtee
# 1.18 Zephyr Cove
# 1.19 Yinfara
# 1.20 Versea

LIST TWO: ONGOING AGE PROJECTS

* Abysos
* Aerie
* Ahra Pahts
* Andy's Nexus
* Camp Bravo
* Cerrodahn
* Ellis Fen
* Greenwood Cottage
* Latahara
* Search for the Springs of Kehlbet
* Sonavio
* Temple of Illumination
* Teralee Falls
* Zephyr Cove
* Fens
* Yinfara
* Nilodnam

While the GoMa front page connection to their Ages comes under the heading "Age Inspections" which sounds more like a link you would click on ti submit an age, the links from there are to the ULM, which has very short, one sentence descriptions of ages like "Enter at your own risk" , "Load this age with Dragon's tooth" and "The House".
Now no, I am not poking fun at the Guilds - I am pointing out where I have found problems and since I am not a member of either guild, I am helping where I can and putting the information I have compiled where everyone can find it: HERE.

IF someone else wants to use the info and give it a good, well designed, graphic intensive home, then please, by all means, go ahead. This list, and any that follow, should hopefully only be a stop-gap before Cyan release a Library age in MORE anyway.

Greetings and Shorah, all.

If I was abrupt earlier I would like to apologize. It had been a long night.
Anyway, this is the list (updated according to input provided by some of the authors) arranged into three parts:
Completed,
Work in Progress
Ages/Games of Note

I have collected a large portion of screenshots for all the completed ages. However, the forum seems to dislike so many IMG attachments - I'll have to see if that can be worked around. If not I will update it with links to the images in my photobucket collection. Please note that this is far from a definitive collection of ages - there are more our there, I am sure, and I hope that updates will continue. I also hope that this will be a useful resource for others looking to build a better looking collection.

Just a quick note about downloading from the ULM:

Any download links given as "http://ulm.hbyte.net/" are actually links to the ULM list of ages, put up by the Guild of
Maintainers. At the very bottom is a link to download the program that will let you load these Ages into your version
of URU.

INCOMPLETE AGES, WORKS IN PROGRESS:

(I am well aware that there are many more ages under construction, and if their authors would like them listed hee, please post in this thread or contact me via PM)

AGALBA:

By Lillo Minniti and Egeo

“A new Age with some excellent graphics and futuristic city settings.”

WORK IN PROGRESS

AHLNAY:

Written by the NTC: Starfyre.
Ahlnay is a tranquil Age that was the private retreat of the prosperous Lord Umeen of the Guild of Ink-makers. Its known surface is primarily forested - Umeen's mansion is located atop a rock plateau that juts out of the forest far below. The trees and their roots give Ahlnay its name, for the trees themselves are mostly immense trunks, sparsely foliated, that are visible for miles, and the huge roots of these trees almost completely cover the forest floor.
The house has a beautiful view of the forest from the top of the plateau. Inside the house, among Lord Umeen's luxuries, the NTC set up their headquarters and library. Sometime ago, for reasons still unknown, the NTC withdrew from actions in the Age and began operating out of Tahmlah. Remnants of their presence their still remain in place.
Ahlnay is a dead project – lost back in 2006, a concept put forward by the NEW TREE, but never, apparently, written into existence. The New Tree Council was also apparently shut down – some time in the past.

STATUS: WORK IN PROGRESS (DEAD)

Alhaman:

By John Beyer

A promising new age with a unique style – designs went up for it, but John vanished soon thereafter.

SPECIAL MENTIONS:

AHRA PAHTS:

By Aloys and the Guild of Writers

A huge underground city full of sections or shells in which new writers can experiment with Age creation! A huge project brought together by the Guild of Writers to encourage new writers.
While this is an Age, and a complete one at that, I felt that it should be included in the special mentions list as it is much more than just an age: It is a platform for new writers to experiment in.

Status: Complete. But with changes on the way.

Guild of Writers (website):

By Alexander Davis

“A wonderful flash game based on Uru, including HUD and style. Complete with journals and safe-lock puzzle.”
I thought I would mention his as a GAME OF NOTE as it is, in it’s own right, a game. It would be great to see the library converted to something like this, or to see more such experiments take place in the Uru community.

Ilathid:

By Jennifer Parsons and co.

“The Ages of Ilathid is an upcoming MYST fan-game which will feature 9 new Ages, once inhabited by a mysterious people.”

Please note: Ilathid is NOT an Uru game. However, it is awarded the status of GAME OF NOTE, as it was incredibly well orchestrated, and many budding “Authors” may learn much from such a beautiful project.

La Casa:

“This is not an Age for Uru. However, it has earned a mention as an AGE OF NOTE, as it is an important experiment in the presentation of worlds online, is based around Uru, and is a fun experience.”

Numbakulla:

By the numbakulla team (Cierrah Blair)

“An Age built in Second Life, and a beautiful one at that. Not directly linked to Uru, but a spiritual partner to the Myst series – built as an answer to the lack of Uru in international countries. Complete with scavenger hunt and wonderfully complex story.”

Okay, that's it for now folks. Images soon, I hope. Tomorrow, perhaps.

Bravo Shevek. This quite an amazing piece of work.

After tweeking the non active links, it will be even better.

Maybe our "old" MO:UL's forums are not dead yet. Image

You are writing UCC History. Image

Cheers

I agree. And that's why I recommended that your well-formed list could help fill in the missing information there.

Shevek wrote:
I am pointing out where I have found problems and since I am not a member of either guild, I am helping where I can and putting the information I have compiled where everyone can find it: HERE.

As I mentioned before, you do have the ability to write to the GoW Wiki because you have created a forum account there. In that sense, you are a member of the GoW.

And I'm afraid that, while you and Artic_Wagon and I are keeping this thread visible at the moment, eventually it will get lost among the waves of new posts. So, I believe your information will be more visible on the GoW age list.

Even if you request this thread (or another) to be stickied, the Wiki has much more flexible ways to present the information than the linear-only style of these forums. Also, multiple people can contribute to a Wiki page. Forum contributions must appear one after the other, and only the original poster has write permissions to update the first post.

Your information is quite valuable, and you two have done a lot of great work. I just think it will fade away if you only post it on these forums.

@ Robert The Rebuilder

Your feedback is very much appreciated.

When Shevek's list will be up to date, I would hope and wish that the Admin/Moderators Group
will create their own sticky refence thread(s) with some details and links to Shevek's master list.

I suspect that their UCC sticky will be created in the Creativity Forum.

Btw, if ever Shevek has the same kind of "spirit" I have, he might agree that
Guilds who wish to post a copy of his list would be welcome and be given permission.

For a copy, all they would have to do is to quote his post/list and copy it.
