IMO The way fan ages will be integrated now that things will be open sourced is like this.

The Nexus will "host" the links to all fan ages. When you link to an age through the nexus for the first time it will download the age from the dataserver. So you will only download fan ages you actually want to visit.

This is the same for updates. No need to use the ULM anymore, other than for the Offline game.

Serene BTW, Near Cyan Quality right there. And with things being open sourced, the plugin will enhance by leaps and bounds I'm sure.

Ooooh, I know who you are!

And Tre'bivdil, BTW. Also near Cyan quality.

There are many wonderful fan created ages available via ULM. UCC was mentioned as a goal for Season 2 of MOUL; so to my way of thinking, we're getting Season 2.

THANK YOU CYAN! And a big thank you to those who will be creating the ages :).

Incredible. I know this was discussed months ago, but my jaw is on the floor nevertheless.

This is huge news, not only for us URUites but it's also an unprecedented move in the gaming business.

We're talking about untold millions in development costs being given away to the fan community.

Can't wait to hear the details through Chogon!

My great hope is, given that any word from cyan staff arouses such a demonstration of the continued high hopes of so many for the return of Myst Online in some form, that Chogon and others don't trifle with us without reason. That would quite simply be cruel.

Ah crud.....yah Serene.....

sigh....

Now I've got to go back and change everything.........blah......

I was using models from Oblivion just to have fun (it's an expansion of Serene, I put a new area in, along with an Inn or Lodge), since it was just going on for private use, I got permission.....

but this is different. I'll have to take it all out and put my own stuff in. Oh well, it was fun. Sort of like taking a break and playing with someone else's Legos. Kinda hard though.

Oh and thanks for the compliment about Serene as it is now.

Hrrrmmmmmmm.....maybe instead I should take Zephyr Cove back out, and re do a lot of it, with the new things I know how to do now.

And now I have to go bug Kato about the Springs Of Kebeht as they gave me an Age to build for it...........

I'd love to see all those empty "reserved" spaces in Ahra Pahts finally become filled up.

Have you seen the fan ages?

You don't have to look at them to know they aren't made by Cyan...

Signed, someone who likes both Cyan, and fan ages.

yes, and yes.

What I want to know is are we paying to play fan ages? That would also be a nice person/people for me as well.

I think things were happening along these lines during Until Uru.

However, during this last year there has been a blossoming of user created ages that can be accessed via the standalone game Uru: Complete Chronicles with the Uru Library Manager. Instructions on how to do this are on the GoMa wiki.

There are screenshots of some of the user created ages in a gallery on the GoW wiki.

I swear you're the first person to ever spell it properly aside from its creators... :P

Hey! I regularly spell it correctly, and I'd never even been there until the Boston Mysterium ;).

Andy, you do great age work. Could you retain the layout from Serene and your inn? With the community active, I suspect there will be a flood of models to play with coming up - likely some animated items too, once folks figure out the tools and so forth.

(I really like that age.)

:)

Agreed. This should not be taken lightly. This move on Cyan's part is likely to give MystOnline higher visibility than it has ever had. If we don't drop the ball and turn it into an anarchist's paradise, it could be the biggest, highest profile thing that's ever happened in the long twisted history of this game.

Somebody from the Steam guild "URU Rocks" posted an announcement about this, and it popped up during a game. I saw URU and OPEN SAUCES and I went WOOHOO! I got yelled at by somebody for not protecting his sentry gun while I was busy trying to access the announcement page.

Happy, happy, joy x2.
