History background links to the guilds and groups

Some of these infos are hard to find when you have not been an active member of many or all groups. :oops:

Would you beleive that some people thought that my quest to find those kinds of old memories, told me that it was somewhat innapropriate(or unwanted ???) ?

The Guild of Greeters is a player group who were formed in 2003 by Ron Meiners who was the Myst community manager for Ubisoft at the time. He created a set of guidelines for the group which were approved by Ubisoft and Cyan Worlds before he recruited Tijara to head the group. Although Ron no longer has a part in the group, the Guild of Greeters have survived until today and are a part of Myst Online: Uru Live.

Artic_Wagon... I think your wanting to collect the history (or encourage it) is great. Don't listen to detractors... said as if you would.

I would like to see all the guilds place their history on the DPWR site. Having things on just one site, puts the information at risk of loss. I decided to start my little history project when the UO site was having computer problems. I regret not keeping more information from Aiden's GoC site.

I've thought of reposting the information in the GoC Tech Data site, but I've never gotten around to it.

The guild resources here is good. But those posts are not history oriented nor do they provide much acknowledgement of those that contributed to the guilds and Uru. I think the Archive is a good place for that information, which is why I posted the GoC history there.

The information on the GoG is interesting. I know some of the Uruites in SL are not MOUL forum people as much as they are Ubisoft forum people. I never spent much time on the Ubi forums. They seem to be an almost separate Myst group of people.

Sadly, like about everywhere else, a lot of old Myst & Uru games forums and Off Topic threads (like the Until Uru forum) and Spoilers forums have been deleted. At The Archives, I have noticed many dead links.

I am very near saying that maybe, the end will soon be writen unless....!!!!!!

As Nalates said, GoMe history (well...not very detailed) is on DPWR too. I don't think it is possible to find the dates to foundation of some of the recent guilds, because they first developed in the Guilds section here and then moved to other places; there isn't a real date, I would say in the last part of 2007 (at least for GoMa, GoMe and GoW). I found the first topic on GoMe website was November 10th, 2007.

GoG Research.
I was curious how much of the old GoG stuff was around. I was also curious which is the oldest guild. I think Ubisoft may have gotten the GoG started as the first guild. The GoC was organizing in January 2004. It looks like the GoG was organizing on the Ubi forum in November 2003.

Some of this information does not come up in search. Older forum posts pushed into archives tend not to show up. One has to manually dig through them.

Feb 22, 2006 – GoG asked to relocate to D’mala.

June 2007 - 07:16 AM – DRC asked for forming of new guilds. Post originally contained logs. It may still be possible to recover those. gelf56 made many of the logs in the thread.
