Here ya go!

[Reveal] Spoiler: In other words...
it seems the lettering was a placeholder inside joke that someone forgot to update before the lanterns were rolled out :)

I wonder if the writing is backwards on the Kirel lanterns, now I have to remember to check.

EDIT: Writing is correct way in Kirel

Thanks for the translation dgelessus!

Lordly, in other words, someone at Cyan was joking around in pig latin! :D

And to give credit where it's due, the transliteration/translation was originally posted by Nadnerb in 2007. Note that the term he uses, "D'ninglish", refers to English words written phonetically in D'ni (as opposed to real D'ni words).

Chances are good that the D'ninglish pig latin phrase was supposed to be swapped out for an appropriate real D'ni word or phrase, but that this detail got lost in the shuffle to get Uru/MOUL out the door. I guess RAWA wasn't on the testing/QA team back then… ;)

Or they just needed a quick placeholder text, so they switched to Dnifont and typed this in. Depending on how you transliterate D'ni characters, it might also get closer to "this is a lantern". e. g. ah might be written as à or something like that, and the d in "lantdrn" might be a typo or transliteration mistake.

Met kenen erth tahmdahko! (This is a firemarble!)

Or something like that :)

Though there would probably be something solemn like “Rehbahntahno tehneeehn shehmtee” or “Curfew at 23:00”.

It's not the only example of D'nEnglish in the neighborhoods. In the corridor to the meditation chambers in the Egg Room, there's a vase with D'ni lettering on it. The writing is straight English, and says "water will flow". Back in the early days of Uru, Cyan had a contest where explorers designed vases for the game, and that was one of the winners. Apparently, either Cyan didn't check what was written on it, or they didn't really care since it wasn't profanity. Had it been in proper D'ni, the phrase would have been "ahno borehm". You can see both the lanterns and the vase on my neighborhoods page.
