Do we even know what exactly happened to MYSTlore? Is it just unavailable, or is the information lost? To my knowledge, the former, so wouldn’t the easiest way of salvaging it be to contact Chucker to discuss about obtaining a database dump?

If someone has someplace to put it. I seem to recall reading posts from the time when it was shut down that no one then was in a position to keep it all.

Theoretically Chucker still has the DB somewhere, for a bit someone else was trying to coordinate getting a hold of that file, but I think that fell through.

Which really sucks, because there's a ton of sites that refrence back to ML for info.

Speaking of MystLore, wouldn’t it be possible to salvage as many articles as possible with the Wayback Machine and recreate them or integrate the existing ones in the other Wiki?

I'm not sure how old that copy is and the CSS is whacked up. You can use the All Pages link to find stuff:

http://uru.orangehairedboy.com/mystlore ... Pages.html

German and Dutch versions are there too. Image thumbnails should work, some full-sized images may not but they might just be invalid links.

@Chucker: if you can get me code/database/whatever I'll happily host it at least for long enough for people to move content into a more permanent wiki.

Note: chucker hasn't logged into these forums for 3 years so I doubt he'll see it. But I'll attempt to contact him anyway. :)

Any plans to make this info more formally hosted? I'm sure that I could find hosting space for it.

Also, I just stumbled upon MYSTAges (http://www.mystwiki.com/), which seems very reminiscent of MystLore. Is that connected? Maybe it'd be a good thing to merge data into?

What I really miss from Mystlore is the Dictionary that was being built for the language.

I doubt you’ll find a more thorough dictionary than the one by Kh’reestrefah.

Oh, I agree. But I think that a wiktionary style dictionary would be much more useful. That is what Mystlore was working on for a while.

I think I contributed a couple of entries, unfortunately there wasn’t much activity. One nicety is that D’ni words were written in D’ni script.

As far as I know MYSTAge is independent, like the Myst wiki is.

The URL of MYSTAges is http://mystwiki.com/, so you may be thinking of the same site. There is also http://dni.wikia.com/, which I'm not sure about how well maintained it is. Also, it's on Wikia, and Wikia can be troublesome - I won't go into the details. The Guild of Archivists are moving their content to a wiki format as well, as far as I'm aware.

http://mystwiki.com/ is titled MYSTAges,
http://dni.wikia.com/ is titled Myst Wiki.

EDIT: come to think of it, I probably contributed those entries to the Myst Wiki.

I wasn't aware of that. Technically the dni.wikia is just called "D'ni", they must have added the Myst Wiki to their logo at some point.

While we're on the topic of lore and whatnot (I didn't think a quick question warranted a new topic), did the D'ni or the people they are descended from keep pets? Just a random idea that popped into my mind that I couldn't find the answer to.

We know of at least one; see Reekoo. And, Atrus had a cat in the cleft named Flame.
