I upgraded to Windows 10. I am trying to play URU offline Path of The Shell/Complete Chronicles. Before I upgraded I had Windows 8.1 and no problem playing on all graphics setting at max. Now I am trying the same and it says Error: There was an error initializing the graphics card. Please try lowering your settings. I have an Intell HD Graphics 4600. Like I said no problem running on Windows 8.1 at full settings. If I turn all setting to minimum it runs just fine.

There seems to be issues with Intel's driver for HD4600 on Windows 10. Have you checked the Intel Download Center for a newer driver? Alternatively, some people suggest uninstalling the Intel driver and letting Windows install its own preference.

Otherwise keep on using the windowed graphical setting, which works for me too for several Uru's I have installed.
In my case it's the AMD Catalyst Windows 10 driver that gives the same error message otherwise.
I'm waiting for a new update of that drive and hope that it will solve this issue.

I'm also having a similar issue with URU:CC and windows 10. I have the latest Nvidia Drivers and get a stack dump error if I try to load URU...

Windowed mode however works just fine.

So I registered last week to ask about this exact problem... seems I'm not alone.

I'm using AMD and was originally thinking it was drivers, but after having tried several different versions without success and now seeing people having problems with AMD, Intel and possibly Nvidia... this appears to be a core Windows 10 problem and not simply a driver problem. Fwiw I also installed Directplay since its not included in Windows 10 by default. Didn't help. Neither did any compatibility modes.

And just to be clear this is only with the offline version. MOUL runs fine.

:(

Had problems with Win7 and old games, too. Sometimes it helps to force your monitor to a 4:3 resolution and/or starting in admin mode.

I tried windowed mode and the game won't launch at all. I'm not even getting any errors. I just get the circle floating over my curser then nothing.I've also tried running the game as admin.

Any help here would be great.

Was URU running OK before the update?
Have you given Administrator rights fore you user on the URU application map?
Did you try the several compatibility modes available, when you use the left mouse key on the .EXE file (W8, W7 , Vista etc.)
Is your Video driver already a W10 version?

I've reverted back and forth from 8.1 to 10 to see if this problem was ever fixed and finally...success!

All I had to do was NOT SELECT "Full Scene Anti-Aliasing" in URU Setup...
After that no other compatibility settings needed changed.

Now this does leave the game looking rather jagged. So if you are able to, you can force anti-aliasing through your graphics drivers.

Yes (or use a Windowed setting).
It might differ in the setup of some shards if you can set that in the startup sequence.
Furthermore a Windows 10 version installation of your videodriver, if already available, is recommended
That works for me for the 4 different URU setups I have running under W10 X64 at the moment
