Yesterday in Moula I was presented by X for a Moula hood deigned for people who are tech people, for age developers to come and discuss tech stuff or for even off to topic tech stuff. Plus it would give an opportunity for people want to make ages or build worlds to come and learn from you guys and gals. It quite the idea, something I did not think of but what are your thoughts would you want a hood designed for that purpose?

a few names of the hood are Tech World Hood (though I do see why I would not like this idea kind of signals people out), help tech hood or tech help hood (better but not something new people might want to join ) then I thought Developer Hood that seem to have a nice ring to it without scaring off new comers who wants to learn development in age building and games. Or you could up with your own name for it.

Tell me in the comments below and I will present the idea at the AGM in September if people are interested in this type of idea.

We had a techno type Bevin at one time.
It went well with for awhile with weekly meetings
discussing how the entire URU was connected in
some way or another.
They also discussed other tech issues as getting
things to work properly with computers and monititors.
They discussed many things about how to make our
computers to work properly.
This bevin went away after a time and never showed
up again. I thought it was a good idea, but never caught
hold enough to last.
Good luck.......

I believe there's a hood for the Guild of Writers and I know there's one for OpenUru.org. I think one of those would be ideal for your purpose and they're already well known names, so people would already understand the purpose.

AFAIK, both have open membership, so it would just be a matter of arranging for one of the members to install your avatar in the hood.

Tai'lahr, I agree.

We have the problem solved.

Thanks for the best idea.

An "Age Writers Bevin" might be a good idea, this way people could get an idea of whats involved in actual Age Writing, it might get more people interested in the process, there is a good chance that some people in the community have some untapped potential that's been dormant, it might also increase the number of people interested in creating an age for MOULa sometime down the line when they get the fan age nexus working, and their is always the the UAM if you don't feel like jumping threw all those MOULa hoops

A lot of Age Writers work solo which means they have to know a little of every thing involved in age writing, it would be nice if we had a few more people who where specialist in one aspect of age writing when we get stumped on something.

I think if more people had a better insight of everything involved in high quality age writing it would make in better for everyone..........

Yes I agree it a good idea but I see where it negatives though Tai'lahr there may be places on those shards not a lot people know of them, this might be good place in order for people to get started in though I do have one question who would be in charge of the hood and maintain it each and every day? If this idea is good we need to make sure people are aware of it and people to be there everyday to help newcomers or other stuff.

I do not want to be directly in charge of the hood since I maintain my own hood (Cavern Events Hood.)

I might be easier to meet up on-line then in game. I'm prity sure OpenURU and the GoW both have IRC for real-time chat and if you have any questions you can ask them on the forums.

zeke, I'm not sure I completely understand your first sentence (here's a handful of commas; maybe that will help ; ), but I get the impression you think I was suggesting you meet on one of those shards (GoW's Ghen or OpenUru's Minkata). I wasn't. They have hoods on the Cyan run MOULa.

But, your last sentence is clear and it sounds like you were just tossing this idea out to see if anyone else would pick up on it and take it on, so it really doesn't matter.

I hate to be Nigel Negative, but I think those comments effectively doom the idea to failure: If the person who comes up with the idea isn't prepared to invest time to manage it, organise and encourage the "experts" to attend, etc., then you really can't be surprised if no-one can be bothered to do it. That's just the way it mostly works here - if you want something done you need to do it yourself. Plenty of folks will be happy to follow someone else's lead, but very few want to take that lead. And as I said on the Facebook thread, most of the "devs" are already pretty busy so they'll need a bit of convincing that participating within MOULa is worthwhile (BTW - splitting this discussion between two different venues was probably a bad idea - a lot of people here won't be able to see the Facebook comments).

In my experience nobody will run execute your ideas for you but people may help you out. It is also my experience that asking the community at large for help doesn't work. If you someone in mind asking that person, usually does work.

Jamie has figured out the secret to managing volunteers. :)

When you broadcast a plea for help, everyone thinks, "that's not for me; someone else will do it," but when you approach a specific person and request their assistance with a specific task, then they usually feel like a skill or talent of theirs has been recognized and will want to demonstrate it by applying it to the task.

Before you go off on me let me just say I was not prepared to lead something like this at first but the more I thought about the more I found myself wanting something like this, now I cant do this on my own, so I need the participation of the group to do this

The basic I idea is the developers hood are from all game developers or new game developers where older developer can teach new developers the tricks and tips in game development or even age building can happen in this hood to get new participation. :)

New developers can contact a developer on the Gould Of Writers or OpenURU.org forums. There is also often someone in they chat rooms for those sites. They are also other places outside of MOULa where devs can chat as well. These places are probably easier for devs to meet then MOULa.
