No Fillers was a successful show, with 24 listeners most of the time, and an endorsement of the format with a request to do another show. We'll make sure to do that. Playlist is on the Radio Free D'ni site - please leave a comment too.

The next show will be this coming Sunday, 19th March, and will be a second set of Covered Up songs - songs with cover versions as well known as or better known than the originals.

Sunday March 17th, one hour earlier than usual i.e. 12:00 KI to 14:00 KI on the plaza (the US has gone to DST but Europe hasn't), with pre-show and post-show music on the channel so you can tune in before we kick off. Come along and join us, on the Ae'gura plaza or at TJ's Dance Hall in Second Life. 12 KI (that's midday US Mountain Time, or 8 pm UK time, 9 pm European time
Just use the links at the top of the radiofreedni.org page to listen, but you'll miss out on the text chat on the plaza if you do.

The old links still work as well

Oh dear, I've not posted the summary of Covered Up 2 or announced the Stigwood show.

A good crowd came along to listen to a potted history of the musical life of Robert Stigwood, who was one of the many significant musical figures who left us in 2016. Much was heard from The Who, Eric Clapton in various groups, and stage shows and movies, some of which originated as concept albums.

Playlist is up on the Radio Free D'ni site

I still think SWLABR is about cats.

"Coming to me in the morning, leaving me at night.
Coming to me in the morning, leaving me alone."
-- Cat

"You're comin' to me with that soulful look on your face.
Coming lookin' like you've never ever done one wrong thing."
-- definitely a cat

"So many fantastic colours, I feel in a wonderland.
Many fantastic colours, makes me feel so good."
-- calico cat.

Our next show will be on Easter Sunday, and will be about Dave Swarbrick, the fiddler most famous for his time with Fairport Convention, who also died last year.

On Sunday 16th April we have another of the Bad Year for Good Music shows, remembering musicians who left us in 2016. The subject this time is the English folk music violin and mandolin player, singer and songwriter Dave Swarbrick. A man who Ashley Hutchings (the man who started three of the greatest electric folk bands) said was the most influential British fiddle player bar none. There is not enough time to go through his career exhaustively so we will present a sampling from his career, including work with the Ian Campbell Folk Group, Martin Carthy, Fairport Convention and Simon Nicol as well as solo work.

Come and join us on the plaza on Sunday 16th April at 14 KI (that's 2 pm US Mountain Time, or 8 pm UK time, 9 pm European time), or in Second Life visit TJ's Dance Hall where Ainia DaFente will host the rebroadcast into SL. Or just use the links at the top of the http://radiofreedni.org page to listen, but you'll miss out on the text chat on the plaza if you do.

Very pleased and impressed that we had such a good audience on Easter Sunday for the Dave Swarbrick show. 22-24 most of the time, with a peak of 29. Thank you all for listening. Playlist is up at the Radio Free D'ni website.

Our next show will be on Sunday 30th April, and will be a personal choice of us here at Radio Free D'ni of Songs That Get Under Your Skin. You may need a box of tissues to hand, or a stiff drink (always a good standby)

Argh. I forgot to post the playlist for Songs That Get Under Your Skin, and to let you know of the next show, which was on Sunday.

Songs That Get Under Your Skin was a hard set to assemble and to present, being quite personal for us. However, since we skillfully managed to time it for May Day, many people were away doing various kinds of celebration - and why not. Playlist for that show is here.

Unexpected Instrumentals was a nice set put together by Malaclypse. We were caught out, only realising it was Mother's Day in the US and Europe on the day. Still had 18 listeners most of the time and 25 at peak.

Playlist is up on the Radio Free D'ni website. Leave us a comment :) Would you like another show on this theme?

The next show will be another of the Bad Year for Good Music series, this one for George Martin, another great name we lost last year.

Show 68 went down well on Sunday 28th May, especially as we had, yet again, managed to coincide with another public holiday - Memorial Day in the US. Our next show is on 11th June - please let me know if this is a public holiday somewhere?

We had 26 listeners peak, and 21 for most of the time, more than were on the plaza, which is nice :) Playlist is up on the Radio Free D'ni site.

Please leave us some feedback, about what you'd like us to do in future shows, perhaps?

The next show will be on June 11th and will be A History of Creedence Clearwater Revival. See you there :)

This Sunday, 11th June, Radio Free D'ni will broadcast a History of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Edison Rex, Malaclypse and myself will be in place on the plaza, and the broadcast will be linked into Second Life at TJ's Dance Hall by our friend Aina DaFente.

Come and join us on the plaza on Sunday 16th April at 14 KI (that's 2 pm US Mountain Time, or 8 pm UK time, 9 pm European time). You can also use the links at the top of the http://radiofreedni.org page to listen, but you'll miss out on the text chat on the plaza if you do.

A great show from Mal with his History of Creedence Clearwater Revival, one of his favourite groups. A max of 19 people listening, 16 most of the time, but then we are at the start of the holiday season. Playlist is up on the Radio Free D'ni site. Glad you could all join us and hope to see you again soon.

The next show will rely on audience participation. The theme will be "Songs with girl's names in the title", but we all know there are a huge number of those, so we'd like you, our audience, to let us know your favourites, and we will try to include them if we can find them in our collections. Contact us in the cavern, on the forums, in Facebook, on the Radio Free D'ni website (Mal is putting a contact form up to make that easier), via email, by carrier pigeon, owl, telepathy or message wrapped around a large (non-returnable) gold brick. We'll have a few backup tracks of our own chooosing on hand to fill in any gaps.

There will also be a history of Gentle Giant in the not-too-distant future (I've finally given in, not enough prog recently) and in the offing, a History of Led Zeppelin. Stay tuned :)

I could have sworn I'd posted up a summary of the last show here..... Oh dear. I did post up on FaceTubeWorkBookYou thing. A summary and a correction below.. you heard it here first :)

Radio Free D'ni's 70th show played to a good audience on the plaza and on the air. We had a busy night with 24 tracks in the show, most of them being 3-minute singles, and all on the theme of girls names. We had some response to our call for requests, and more came in during the show, so we'll keep those for next time. You can still contact us via the website, or in the game, and let us know of a track you would like - if we have it, we will try to play it.

Playlist is on the Radio Free D'ni website

The next show of this type will concentrate on boys names, of which there are somewhat fewer examples but still plenty around.

The preshow had some more tracks from the G section of my stash - Genesis and Gerry Mulligan. Postshow was some of the tracks that almost made it into the show.

22 listeners max, 17 average. I blame the summer holidays.

The next show will be on 9th July and will be the second of our No Fillers shows, No More Fillers Any More, albums that we find have no bad tracks at all, featuring a couple of tracks from each. In play will be The Doors, Fairport Convention, Supertramp, Queen (yes, really), Gong, Jethro Tull, Passport, Rush and Bruce Hornsby and The Range. Two weeks on from that, the show will be about the somewhat mad, extremely talented and very prog English group Gentle Giant. Ed will be afk so it will be a solo show by yours truly. Please join us, listening to the broadcast or in the cavern. In Second Life we are relayed via TJ's Dance Hall.

Come and join us on the plaza on Sunday 9th June for No More Fillers Any More at 13 KI (that's 1 pm US Mountain Time, or 8 pm UK time, 9 pm European time), or in Second Life visit TJ's Dance Hall where Ainia DaFente will host the rebroadcast into SL. Or just use the links at the top of the http://radiofreedni.org page to listen, but you'll miss out on the text chat on the plaza if you do.

Sunday's Radio Free D'ni show is cooked and ready, and will be No Fillers 2: No More Fillers Any More. These are albums we think are excellent and have no filler tracks, nothing that is there just to pad out the playing time.

The selection this time has Fairport Convention, The Doors, Supertramp, Queen, Gong, Jethro Tull, Passport, Rush and Bruce Hornsby and The Range. Something for everyone, and all great stuff.

Come and join us on Radio Free D'ni on Sunday 9th June for No More Fillers Any More at 13 KI (that's 1 pm US Mountain Time, or 8 pm UK time, 9 pm European time), in game on the public plaza or in Second Life visit TJ's Dance Hall where Ainia DaFente will host the rebroadcast into SL. Or just use the links at the top of the http://radiofreedni.org page to listen.

There will be, as you might expect, some 10cc, Caravan, Warren Zevon and Loudon Wainwright III, but also Paul Simon, Lindisfarne and a host of others.

In game we will be on the public plaza or in Second Life visit TJ's Dance Hall where Ainia DaFente will host the rebroadcast into SL. Or just use the links at the top of the http://radiofreedni.org page to listen.

Playlists and short commentary for the past two shows are on the Radio Free D'ni website

72 Gentle Giant

Apologies for lack of notice for the last show here - I'll try not to let it happen again.

The Rock Humour show drew a great crowd, up to 30 at one point - very pleasing results for a solo show.

Ed is back with us now, and has chosen the best of the tracks from the last year's shows to produce our third anniversary show, as is traditional (well, we've done it three times, that's traditional for us). Beatles, Bruce Hornsby, Fairport Convention, Pink Floyd and Wilson Pickett are some of the artists we will feature, so join us at 8pm UK time (13 KI), Sunday 20th August, on Radio Free D'ni.

I should have mentioned this earlier, but tomorrow is the 75th Radio Free D'ni show, and we will have wide-ranging selection of tracks themed around Diamonds and Ice. There are relatively few such tracks, and we've plundered the stash rather heavily, so be prepared for a good mix of genres. Kiss, Wolfstone, Extrabreit, The Beach Boys, Enya, Pink Floyd, Sade and John Lee Hooker. A star-studded playlist, so come and join us at 8pm UK time (13 KI), Sunday 3rd September, on Radio Free D'ni.

This coming Sunday (October 1st) we will be broadcasting the third part of our History of Pink Floyd, compiled by Malaclypse, and covering the most complex period of their career, beginning from 1975, as Wish You Were Here was the last album we covered in part 2. There will be a Part 4 to complete the tale, at a later date.

I hope you will come and join us at 8pm UK time (13 KI), Sunday 1st October, on Radio Free D'ni.
