Coming up this Sunday, October 14th, 8pm to 10pm UK time on Radio Free D'ni...
Cream - a show dedicated to the short-lived but illustrious "first supergroup in Rock"
Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker. Two years and four albums. And a legacy that still resonates today.

Come along on Sunday and taste some Cream.

To find Radio Free D'ni, use the internet links posted at the top of the home page on
http://radiofreedni.org

Or you could go to
http://www.urutunes.com
and choose the Radio Free D'ni button.

The stream will only be active for about four hours, starting from approximately 7:15 pm (UK) with a silent stream (that will still allow you to connect to it) and with a preshow set beginning at about 7:30 pm (UK). The main show starts at 8 pm UK, 9 pm European (CET) or 3 pm Mountain Time in the USA and will last for about two hours, and there will be about half an hour of postshow music to finish things off.

In the game we meet on the plaza of the public instance of the City, and if you are in Second Life you can find our rebroadcast in TJ's Dance Hall, hosted by Ainia DaFente.

This Sunday, October 28th, 8pm to 10pm UK time

which, for this week only, is 2 pm to 4 pm KI (US Mountain Time)
Due to unsynchronised DST changeovers

Radio Free D'ni will broadcast a show of tracks by The Who, a quintessentially English rock band with a first-class history. The show will concentrate on the Keith Moon years, and will look at the tracks that were to be part of Lifehouse, but ended up being some of their best tracks anyway.

Come along on Sunday and tell us Who you are :)

This Sunday, 11th November, (7:30 - 10:30 UK time) Radio Free D'ni will broadcast part 2 of our look at The Who.

This set includes the post-Moon Who, solo work by the other three, and some tracks associated with members of the group, either guesting or as producer. We will also visit Pete Townshend's eventual publication of Lifehouse, as The Lifehouse Chronicles, a limited edition box set sold by Townshend directly, at shows and through his website.

Join us on Sunday and find out Who's Next on this Endless Wire.

The US has now undergone its DST changes, so we are back to 14:30 - 17:30 KI (Mountain) time

Radio Free D'ni returns this Sunday, 6th January 2019, with our now-traditional look back at the musicians and others we said goodbye to in the year gone by. That sad list is headed by Aretha Franklin and includes Jon Hiseman, Ray Thomas, Liam O'Flynn and many others, not forgetting Stephen Hawking and David Ogden Stiers. Join Root Beer, Edison Rex, Malaclypse, Hugh and myself from 7:30 pm UK time, 8:30 pm European time, 12:30 pm Mountain Time in the US for the preshow music, and help to remember those now lost to us.

On Sunday 20th January, Radio Free D'ni will present a show devoted to the jazz guitarist Pat Metheny. The show will concentrate on his work as a solo artist and with his own groups, notably the Pat Metheny Group that ran for nearly thirty years. Metheny is also noted as a collaborator with many high-profile artists, the likes of Ornette Coleman, Jaco Pastorious and Gary Burton, as well as appearing with Joni Mitchell, Sonny Rollins and Michael Brecker. Join Root Beer, Edison Rex, Malaclypse, Hugh and myself from 7:30 pm UK time, 8:30 pm European time, 12:30 pm Mountain Time in the US for the preshow music, and for some jazz on Sunday :)

Alan, have you heard Metheny's "Orchestrion?" It's not my favorite of his albums, but it is fascinating. He assembled a system that allowed him to play, in real time, and accompany himself. Has a tinge of player piano along with a touch of Steve Reich, but is all Metheny.

Hi LC, yes, if you listened to the show you will have noticed that we did indeed include a track from the Orchestion album along with a bit of patter about the instrumental assembly itself. Quite a fascinating take on a turn-of-the-last-century mechanical instrument, now worked by modern electronics as far as triggering is concerned but otherwise all electromechanical.

Sunday 17th March is St. Patrick's Day, and Radio Free D'ni will be taking part in the celebration. Our normal Sunday show will be Irish-themed, and we will have a full hour of music before and after the show, the preshow session accompanying the traditional parade of avatars in green.
Times are slightly unusual for the US as you have adopted Daylight Savings Time, wheras Europe has not. Our show will be at the usual times in Europe and the UK, 8 pm UK, 9 pm CET, with the preshow starting one hour earlier. In the US, the show will start at 14 KI, with the parade starting at 13 KI

Artists in the show will include Davy Spillane, Clannad, Fat Lady Sings, Hozier, Rory Gallagher, Paul Brady and of course Thin Lizzy, with a touch of Commitments too.

Join us for a bit of the Irish.
