How do I use a microphone. In the ferry landing I heard people talking.

Just press your Tab key in and start talking into your microphone. Release tab to stop transmitting voice chat. It's that easy. :)

The Voice Chat is really smooth now. There can be tonnes of people talking and you can all hear them well unless someone has a microphone that makes people echo. Of course, volume isn't determined by distance, so it's a bit of a muddled mess I'm afraid.

Is the voice directed against the avatar in the stereo perspective?

The voices are placed in the 3d location of the explorer speaking. So as you turn in circles the voice goes around.. it's really cool.

3d voice doesn't work for me although I have an OpenAL / EAX compatible sound card (Audigy 2). For me voice chat is only stereo.

The audigy setting only works for ZS. Use Generic hardware and EAX. You also need to check in control panel that your speakers are set up as 5.1.

I'm using hardware EAX. All sounds except voice are placed in the 3d environment.

It might be worth seeing about updating your drivers then, Tiran. I'm pretty sure voice chat behaves the same way for me.

And adjusting "My Voice" volume in the options menu doesn't help? :(

Apart from Uru's internal microphone slider, you might want to check the general recording level in the Windows sound control panel. Also check that the recording source is set as Microphone and not Line-in or Sound card input.

Where is your mic plugged in? I had the same problem until I found out that Dell systems with Audigy sound cards have a problem with using the front mic jack. When I moved to the jack on the sound card, my volume was fine.
