I don't know if this has been posted before, but I know many have expressed interest in having other members of your family play URU, the problem being uru only allows one login at a time, per account name. I found out how to get around this!

First, this DOES require GameTap, so you can create sub accounts. If you have GameTap, this is what you need to do:
First, bring up GameTap, click My Gametap, and than Family Filters,
In here you can add sub-accounts. Each sub-account gets 5 explorers, and explorers are NOT shared among accounts.

Now with one Gametap subscription, your entire family can play, just give each person a sub account with their own login and password!

I have tested this, and it worked fine using GameTap and/or the Uru External Client. However, only two logins can be online at the same time.

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free to ask!

Good luck everyone, and I hope to see you in the cavern!
--Matthew

I think only two of those sub-accounts can be on at the same time, though (if I remember correctly), so only two can be playing at once.

That I didn't test, so we'll have to check and find out, Plus that limit may not matter if you use external URU. Anybody wanna do some more testing and let us know? :)

There are four of us here from the original UruLive and Until Uru, and we loved playing together as a family. A few days ago we downloaded urulive onto a second computer on our LAN. (Gametap was already installed on both). We used the same login information and got in simultaneously. I don't know if it's supposed to work that way but it seems to. /shrug

Thanks for the information on creating subaccounts-- it's good to know in case we run into problems doing it this way (or adding the next two).

Does GameTap really silently agree on 1 licence = 1 family? That would be great for me!

I don't think it's sticky-worthy - there are too many stickies already.

I mentioned it to somebody who does stuff for GT, and they said it's okay, even they've done it. ;)

Did not work for me. Was able to get a sub-account on GT, but not able to access Myst Online. Recieve a fatal error: access violation.

Hm, you should be able to -- I'd ticket it.

We have GT installed on two computers. I use mine and my daughter has a sub-account on my husband's. We can both be in the cavern at the same time.

I have two GameTap sub-accounts for my kids in addition to my main account. Each sub-account screenname and password is valid for logging into Uru Live...

My daughter and I have been on GameTap and Uru Live at the same time using the separate accounts. I haven't tried it with three yet... I only have two computers hooked to my router that will run Uru Live at this point...
