Seems every time I visit the forum these days, there's another post bemoaning the lack of news from Cyan or another person trying to take a 'realistic' view of the situation and suggesting that we'll just not ever see an online version of Uru again.

I'm pessimistic by nature but I can't help wondering where all the optimism has gone?

I haven't lost mine and probably never will :D Although I realize nothing is certain in this world, there is always enough hope left to remain positive. We're still alive, so is Cyan, and there are still people that want MORE stuff from Cyan. For now, that is good enough for me 8)

Maybe I should change my name to optimism. I'm still optimistic and will be until Cyan says, "No way, ain't gonna happen, never again!" Even then, there will be a small amount of hope left in me that they will change their minds.

I'm definitely optimistic, but realistic at the same time. Meaning, I see no use in getting all excited about things we just can't change for now. We can come up with all kinds of ideas for the future of Uru, but until Cyan has the wherewithal to actually put plans in motion, there's not much point in brainstorming. Yeah, the forums can be sort of depressing. The laments are a downer, and the speculations are frustrating too, for the reasons mentioned above. And besides, when Cyan ramps up again, they're going to have to fit any Uru plans into some sort of budget; perhaps a limited one; and many of our ideas may well be unworkable.

I'm not trying to throw a wet blanket over things! I'm an incorrigable Cyan fan, and will be here until the very end, or preferably, the new beginning. Nothing else has captured me like Uru, and I have no plans to migrate to another online world.

If you have no plan for when the time is right, you're unprepared and you'll be too late. There is every point in brainstorming. You generally end up going where it is you are looking.

I haven't lost mine either!
The "doom and gloom", as it has been called, gets me down.

Let's start a happy thread :D

I too am disappointed by the many displays of "doom and gloom". I know that some are predisposed to such thoughts, but why do they keep posting such things here? What is their motivation? Are they trying to convert the optimists or just depress us?

I, for one, will continue to believe that Cyan will come through for us when they are able. They are a business and are, therefore, not able to comply with our wishes all the time... whether it is for news or for action. Their main concern is for their own individual livelihoods.

We want MORE.

Cyan wants MORE.

The money isn't there...yet. I still think that every problem has a solution. So, I'm optimistic one will be found - but by Cyan, not us. Still, brainstorming helps keep us from mental atrophy, if nothing else.

I haven't lost all hope yet, but it won't help to keep repeating that on the forums. So I'm just waiting patiently until the time is there... I hope it won't be too long. ;)

Point taken!

I guess what I was saying is that there is so much we want to do with Uru - the brainstorming demonstrates that. The potential is beyond our imagination! But it can only happen if Cyan is in a position to make it happen. And even when times were better, there was only so much they could do.

True, there has been a lot of negativity floating around - but I put that down to no information so, like is accustomed in this community - some assume the worst. I agree with Mowog that I remain optimistic and realistic at the same time and share the sentiment that there will be much to celebrate when the time comes.

And happy optimistic advent to all. :)

I will continue with "cautious Optimisim" untill Cyan says there will be no more Uru. I believe that if they can find a way it WILL happen. . . . I am not ready to give up on Uru or on Cyan.

I tend to remain guardedly optimistic and keep checking the forums in case there are positive developments. :)

I believe this community and Cyan will find a way to revive Uru.

And if they find a way, they'll make a home. No, I neither am ready to give up on Cyan or Uru however, I still think we need to watch them carefully for any products outside of the Myst series - and support them with it if we want to ensure a "cautiously optimistic" future. ;)
