I've heard of people adding DRC Members to their Buddy Lists in order to know when they are in the cavern. I was wondering if anyone had those KI Numbers. It seems odd that there isn't a stickied List of them somewhere...

I've only been able to learn Douglas Sharper's at this point.

We aren't allowed to post the DRC KI Numbers in an official thread. Sorry.

The forum rule is simple, you may post only your own KI number. You may not post anyone else's KI number, even if they've publicly said it's OK to do so. If they want it public, they can come post it and it will be public. If not, it's rude to post it for them.

I know this will fall on deaf ears, but how exactly is a DRC member going to post their own KI number on an OOC forum??

I didn't read anything in there about not revealing DRC KI numbers. Some people just like to keep secrets. I see no valid reason for restricting information about "official characters" in the game.

Now real people are different. Privacy should be honored where real people concerned. But that is more a moral issue than a forum rules issue.

Hiya, I had to remove the KI number.
Even though this is not stated in the forum rules, this goes back to a tradition since 2003, where players were asked by Cyan not to post KI numbers of official characters on forums. I believe the idea behind this is to encourage players to interact with others in game to exchange such information etc. The DRC (and other official) characters are special, so collecting their numbers can be seen as part of the game.

I would personally like to add: Feel free to contact me in game any time (my KI number is 13878) and I will share all KI numbers of official characters I have. I am sure most other players will do the same, as I have never encountered a situation where somebody was not willing to pass such info on.

Thanks for the clarification ireenquench :) And thank you for offering to share your information :D I like the idea of collecting official KI numbers as a game pass-time, but I haven't collected any yet because I am never on-line or in the right place when an official character shows up

For the record, I thought that the traditional prohibition on posting KI numbers related to Cyan employees and their families, not to in-game characters like Sharper. For those who weren't around back then, there were people 'stalking' Cyan family members and other 'famous' people known to be playing Uru and causing all sorts of unpleasantness. So from a moral (and perhaps legal) perspective, don't even think about sharing KI information about real people without the explicit approval of the persons involved. Its not just good manners or a forum rules issue, its a very real privacy issue and should be taken seriously.

We are checking on this - it's unclear what the rules are.

I'm for publishing the characters KI numbers on the forum, but before we say OK - we want to be sure.

This isn't the first time the question has been raised, mszv. The answer has been no to a forum posting of the DRC KI numbers each time.

Ahh, this topic again... Who wants to bet that we'll see this one at the beginning of each episode? :P

I'll be more than happy to privately share what information I have as well. I understand that it can be much easier to feel disconnected/in the dark when it comes to NPC visits without those numbers.

Ok, here it is from the horse's....errr, I mean dragon's mouth:

After further discussion, it's been decided that DRC KI numbers will be allowed to be posted in these forums. However....( you knew that was coming, right? ) , if the DRC members and/ or their Cyan counterparts start getting spammed from the 'buddy' lists, they will utilize the 'Ignore' function. So if anyone starts complaining about being ignored by the DRC, it will either have been their own fault or that of another player abusing the buddy list on the KI.

So there you go...you can use it - just don't abuse it.
